If you haven't been to Mahoning Valley Speedway, this Saturday night they have a 100 lap race. I know Matt Hirschman and Eric Beers will be there. I believe Chip Santee will be driving the Beers #9 car. Weather looks good, and hoping to hang out with some Hirschman fans in the stands. You have to see this track for yourself. No words can describe it!

ERIC BEERS AND DELANGE RACING READY TO DEAL THE CARDS AT MAHONING DEBUT

DeLange Racing of Lockport, New York, and their new team driver will make their debut together this Saturday night at Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. Veteran racer and local favorite Eric Beers of nearby Northampton will pilot the brand new #45 DeLange Modified for the first time in the track’s 2009 season opener with racing scheduled to begin promptly at 6:00 pm. The highlight of the evening will be Hand One of the five-race Modified 100 Poker Series, which will be a 100-lap, $3000 to win main event for the track’s lead division.

Beers and the DeLange Racing crew are busy in the shop putting the finishing touches on the brand new Troyer chassis. The car will display a new orange color scheme and power will be provided by a new engine built by Scott Ritter of RPM Racing Engines in Lehighton. Both car owner and driver are anxiously looking forward to their debut together.

“The racing season is finally here,” states team owner Dave DeLange. “I’m even more excited than usual for the 2009 season to begin because it’s the start of a new association with Eric and his crew. During the off-season as we made our plans together for our new team and a new race car there has been nothing but positive vibes. When we get to the track on Saturday we’ll be ready to go and I truly believe this new group is going to be successful in 2009.

“I’m looking forward to my first visit to Mahoning Valley Speedway,” continues DeLange. “I’ve heard nothing but good things about the track and this five-race Modified 100 Poker Series should be an interesting format. The race car will be fully ready to go on Saturday. It’s time to go racing!”

The driver is also anxious to debut his brand new ride at a very familiar track. “We’ve been busy working almost since the start of the year getting this new car ready to race,” explains Beers. “It’s finally in the closing stages of assembly. I’m excited to finally get the car completed and get on the race track. We’ll give it a final shakedown during the Saturday afternoon practice session and make sure all the little things are done. Then when the racing program begins that evening we can focus on racing and getting a good finish. The talk will be over and now we can do what we love – go racing!”

Mahoning Valley Speedway is located just west of Lehighton on PA Route 443. On Saturday pit gates open at 2:00pm and grandstand gates open at 4:00pm. For additional information call the track office at 570-386-4900 or on the web at www.mahoningspeedway.com

Mahoning was packed, and even if Beers dominated, it was great fun watching some top notch drivers get around that fast 1/4 track. The battle for 2nd between Rabenhold and Paules was great to watch.

Heard there was great racing at Waterford too last night. Hopefully the crowd was good there too.
