I've seen a few tracks have success with lap sponsors. The N-S shootout comes to mind. I know LI did some positive things up at Star last fall. However, the biggest gripe is that it doesn't cover much in the way of teams that finish middle of the pack. So, what if you could sponsor the finishing order. For example, say you had 10 people/companies sponsor the 13th place finisher at $50 a spot. The 13th place finisher would walk away with an extra $500. It would really beef up the overall purse in my mind. I know there are pros and cons to every idea but I think something like this could work.

Any thoughts?

I'd put up 50 bucks.. maybe the True Value people will read this and get something started!

And while we are at it...Hook me up with someone from Riverhead and we can make the tour purse bigger for the Whelen tour.

You know, I was thinking about lap money the other day.

I remember all big races had lap money, even at Riverhead and Islip.

Oswego used to give out 6 packs or cases of beer, do they still do that?

I remember one driver won so much beer they had a whole truck on the track!
