Sorry folks, got this late as the email system was down for a bit....

Tim Brown of Cana, Va. continues his good luck streak at Bowman Gray Stadium, strengthening his points lead in the Farm Bureau Insurance Modified Series.
Brown’s performance each event has been impeccable. He earned more points than any other Modified competitor during the first event of the season on April 25, taking checkered in the Tucson 200. The next week, he again earned more points than any other Modified driver with high finishes in both of the 25-lap races. Last Saturday, his victory in the Bowman Gray Gear 100 made for the third week in a row that he’s continued to pull ahead in the points race.
Brown is currently 16 points ahead of the rest of the Modified field. But with many, many events still to come in 2009 – including three double-points nights – Brown’s points lead is far from secure. One bad night, one mechanical breakdown, one wreck – that’s all it would take to erode Brown’s lead to nothing.
Moving up to second in the points is Jonathan Brown of Winston-Salem. This is only Jonathan’s fourth season in the Modifieds and the first season that he intends to run in every event. Jonathan stole the lead from Burt Myers of Walnut Cove in Saturday’s 100-lapper, going on to finish second after Tim Brown usurped Jonathan’s lead.
Stadium veteran Alfred Hill of Jonesville finished sixth on Saturday, tying him with Jonathan Brown for second in the points. Chris Fleming of Mount Airy dropped from second in the points down to sixth after an early race encounter with Brad Robbins forced Fleming to the pits. Although Fleming would return later in the race, he would only manage a 15th place finish for his effort.
Burt Myers finished in third on Saturday, moving him from 11th to 8th in the points. His brother, Jason, finished ninth after a run-in with Junior Miller sent the younger Myers brother spinning. Had Myers not spun, he would’ve finished fourth and would currently be second in the points - ahead of Jonathan Brown and Alfred Hill. Instead, his ninth place finish puts him at fifth in the points.
Junior Miller of Danbury finished fourth after taking the position from Jason Myers. Miller is 10th in the points. Randy Butner of Pfafftown finished in fifth, moving him up to fourth in the points.

In the Webb Heating & A/C Co. Sportsman Series, Gary Ledbetter of Lexington took the checkered in the first race and finished sixth in the second race. Ledbetter earned more points than any other Sportsman competitor, moving him from a tie for the points lead into being the sole driver on top of the points ladder. Barry Edwards of Pinnacle finished fourth and fifth, moving from a tie for the points lead down into second in the points.
Robbie Brewer of Winston-Salem moves up to third in the points after finishing sixth and fourth. Keith McMichael of Belews Creek claims the fourth spot on the points ladder after finishing second and eighth.
Johnny Arnder’s victory in the 20-lapper on Saturday for the 104.1 WTQR Street Stock Series moves him from third in the points up to a tie for the points lead. The Mount Airy resident ties Doug Wall of Pfafftown. Matt Cotner of Rural Hall moves up to third after finishing in sixth. Joseph “Bobo” Brown drops from the top spot on the ladder down to sixth after wrecking on Saturday.

In the Time Warner Cable Stadium Stock Series, A.J. Sanders of Mocksville took the victory, maintaining his lead in the points rankings. Kenny Dixon of Pfafftown moves up to second in the points after finishing in second. Michael Wells of Yadkinville also claimed a win on Saturday, moving Wells up to the third spot in the points standings.

This Saturday night is double the action with two 50-lap races: one for the Modifieds and one for the Street Stock Division. The annual 50-lapper is the longest and most prestigious race for the Street Stock cars, and the 50-lap race for the Modifieds will utilize the infamous double-file restart rule. There will also be racing for the Sportsman and Stadium Stock Divisions – and it will be the season’s first 109 U-Pull-It Chain Race. Gates open at 6:00 for practice, qualifying begins at 7:20, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Saturday night.
