Okay, my daughters gave me a new Ipod Nano (sp?) for Mother's day (Don't ask, my family is odd. My wife will probably get a fishing pole or something for Father's Day).

I downloaded the 32 songs from my San disk (19 of which were courtesy of The Who), and it got me thinking. I need to join the new century and fill up the rest of the 16 megs.

I'm looking for help here. If you could name one "Must Have" song on your Ipod to get you cranked for the car ride up, the infield, or the first heat race; what would it be?

Please no Top 10's, I'm not that proficient. Just your best-of-the-best. A tie for first is okay if you absolutely can't decide, but American Top 40 won't work.

Mine is easy: "Speedway At Nazareth; Mark Knoffler". You?

When The Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin good strength but probably top 40
Balinese - ZZ Top - nice rhythm, not top 40, but I pick
Chic Corea - Vulcan Worlds

I can listen to Pantera's "Cowboys From Hell" and think I can whip anybody on the globe after that one LOL. Anything from ACDC, or some Motley Crue "Kickstart My Heart" gets you raring to go. I do like me music a little harder than most though, but the last 2 named work well.

My best source of music for free has been my local library. They have tons of CD's. I take a CD, burn it to iTunes and voila. At least 40% of my stuff is on my ipod.

I like to pull into a racetrack with Back in Black (AC-DC), but I also like punky kinda stuff too that's car related. If you are up for some adventure, check out 500 Miles to Glory or Smash Up Debry compilations from Gearhead Records. You can lsiten to them beforehand on itunes store or amazon before buying if not your thing.

My favorite - shout it out the window as you're driving:

John Mellencamp - "This Is Our Country"....................

Who else would I be?

What should I have said, Richard Petty singing "King of the Road" from the "NASCAR Goes Country" album. Or...better yet Buddy Baker singing "Butter Beans"? :applause:

Or maybe, one of Richie Evans' favorite songs like "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen or "Faster" by George Harrison...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMn0GOm6RK0

You're killing me! It's scary that you even know these things exist. The lesson learned here is that if you mess with the master, you get what you deserve!

On my way to the races I always listen to the Clarence Carter classic "Strokin", along with many others that you just have to hear to believe! ...

That one is easy... For those about rock!!! The intro itself is enough to get anyone going.

honorable mention(s) go to:
- Enter Sandman
- Satch Bogie (can't help but think of Satch Worley with that one cranking)

or if you want to turn the clocks back a few tears and crank up the first few seconds of the song.... "She's real fine, my 409"

keep the hammer down!

Now the mood could affect what is blasting out the speakers as we pull in to the track but it should sound like this:

Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix
Boom Boom - John Lee Hooker
The Trooper - Iron Maiden
Highway to Hell - AC/DC
