Thompson International Speedway will be the center of action and entertainment this holiday weekend. Two big shows in only four days will provide something for everyone as the nation celebrates this very special holiday. Both high speed racing and incredible dare devils and fun make up the weekend menu.

The holiday gets off to an early start at Thompson when the NASCAR Whelen All American Series ‘Super Six’ racing divisions kick off the popular Thursday Night Thompson Thunder weekly racing program. This Thursday, May 21st, will be the first of the season-long Thursday night racing events at the famous oval.

The Sunoco Modified division tops the bill with qualifying races and a 30-lap main event. Joining the Sunoco Modifieds will be the ultra fast Super Late Models, Thompson Modifieds, Late Models, Limited Sportsman and Mini Stocks. Grandstands will open at 4 PM and racing will begin at 6 PM.

After the Thursday night race program Thompson’s annual Eve of Destruction will take center stage on Sunday. School bus, big and small car demolition derbies, Monster Trucks, a Jet Powered Spectacular and the fan favorite Trailer Trash VII combine to make up this fun filled evening. Additional events are also on the schedule, but they are meant to be a surprise for thrill seeking fans.

This annual event is a huge hit with kids of all ages. But, the track’s midway will be devoted to youngsters with a host of inflatable activities designed to provide extra fun for the little ones.

The gates to the speedway will open at 1:30 PM so that youngsters can enjoy an afternoon of fun on the midway. The Eve of Destruction program will begin at 6 PM. Fans are urged to arrive early to avoid the long, last-minute, ticket lines.

Thompson International Speedway has become a great Memorial Day holiday weekend destination. Hundreds arrive on Thursday with campers in tow and stay for the weekend. Full details of this weekend’s events are available on the Thompson Speedway web page (http://www.thompsonspeedway.com).
