tow rigs

so what does everyone have? im looking around for one so i dont have to depend on my friends anymore to get me to the track.:help:

i have a deal lined up for a 94 ford e250 van w/ 351 and auto trans, and im not sure how it would tow:confused:...keep in mind that ill just have a simple open trailer and most likely a small 4cyl car

I would think an e250 would tow fine, any 3/4 ton truck or van should do the job - you've probably only got about 2000lbs for trailer + another 3200 for car. I would highly recommend taking the time to hook up trailer brakes though, they are probably required by law and they really help stopping faster. I tow with a 79 f150 with 4 spd and 400. I got a hitch at collis used truck parts for about $50, just bring a tape measure because if memory serves correctly some of the 3/4 ton fords had 2 different frame widths.

We used to tow a street stock with a 1/2 ton ford van with a 302 and that did a good job. I could imagine what a 3/4 ton could do. Vans are nice to throw all your stuff inside to keep it dry and lock it up, like a shop on wheels!

i tow up to bdr with 91 f-150. only 5.0 in it. just have to get good run to get up the big hills.:-B you will be fine with the van. i will ask around about trailer when i go up there on sunday (if i finish the burnt tchicken):lol:. if i find out i will write again.

for a good car trailer (open deck) you can probably easily pick one up for 1500-2k or less.

a full deck trailer (can haul anything rather than just a car) would run you a little more.

My old man towed with vans for years. Everything from 150s to 350s, 5.0 - 7.3s. If you want, I am selling my 02 F150 super crew pretty cheap. It has 135K on it with the 5.4L, been towing 4 bangers all over the east coast for years with no problem. PM me if you are interested.

You can buy a brand new open deck trailer for around $2000. I bought one two years ago at Carlisle for $1695. Dual axle, electric brakes, 7000 lbs.

I've always found a 1987 Oswald to be quite reliable for hauling the TRUX around when we race them... I don't know if you can find one quite as good as the one I have....but you should look anyways!
