The Camping World East Series will make its next stop at the Thompson International Speedway on Saturday, July 11th when the track hosts its annual Full Fender Frenzy race program. This extremely successful developmental series for NASCAR is hot off of a great race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway that was won by Kyle Bush.

Defending Series Champion, Matt Kobyluck, will lead the Camping World East Series into Thompson. The long-time veteran and extremely popular driver from Connecticut considers Thompson Speedway to be his home track. Kobyluck has had great success over the years at Thompson and will be looking to continue that trend when his Mohegan Sun race team takes to the track on July 11th.

The NASCAR Camping World Series features the stars of tomorrow and many other popular drivers who are household names to New England race fans. Steve Park, one of the most popular drivers to ever have raced at Thompson, will return to the Connecticut oval as part of the Camping World East Series. Park, the 1991 winner of the Thompson 300, won his first of many NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races at the “Big T”, has competed in virtually every NASCAR division and has proven his ability to race hard and win regardless of the division or the venue.

Another New England favorite is Bay State driver, Eddie MacDonold. MacDonald knows his way to victory lane and enters the Thompson race only eighteen points behind the Camping World East Series current points leader, Jody Lavender.

Lenox Industrial Tools 301 Winner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Joey Lagano, another Connecticut native, competed in this event in 2007. Soon after, he saw his career take off when he quickly moved up through the ranks of Joe Gibbs Racing and was named to fill the seat of the Home Depot Nextel Cup Series car.

A full field of Camping World East Series cars and stars are expected for this very special event. The division hosts many young drivers who are being groomed like Lagano but it also has a long list of veterans to make for an exciting race program every time they appear at Thompson.

Joining the Camping World East Series will be the very popular Pro All Stars Series (PASS). This Super Late Model Touring Series has been a big hit with Thompson fans for several years and will be competing in a 75-lap main event. Also included in Thompson’s Full Fender Frenzy will be Thompson’s own Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Mini Stocks and Thompson Modifieds.

Practice sessions begin at 12 Noon. Qualifying will be get underway at 4:15 PM with the first feature race slated for a 7 PM start time. The day’s complete schedule is available on the Thompson Speedway web page. www.thompsonspeedway.com

Always wondered what kind of crowd Thompson would draw if they raced the Whelen Tour on a Saturday night. Nice that Thompson gives the East Series a rain date on the following day too.

Talk about your misleading PR. and no, I am not talking about Friday's race supposedly won by "Kyle Busch". I would think the brother of a succesful Sprint Cupper would get recognition for his acomplishment... sorry Ryan I guess the spell check that the Nascar PR uses automatically replaces any driver name it doesn't recognize with a bonafide Sprint Cupper.

Nope I'm talking about the first half of the sentence, "This extremely successful developmental series for NASCAR", if the CWE is "extremely successful " then the WMT should be god-like by comparasion.
