Race Tracks are like friends to me. I've lost some of my best friends when Islip, Riverside Park, Flemington, and the 3/4 Mile Track at Pocono were closed for one reason or another. This weekend, we have the birth of a brand new friend. Shangri La 2 opens this weekend with a great double header weekend. Is anybody planning on going to the Grand Opening Weekend?

Thanks for the updates....Question though...only 12 modifieds and 11 sportsman mods?????

Only 10 mods started the feature, and I am pretty sure 2 or 3 pulled off the track by lap 3. Great looking track. Will go back when they can pull more cars to see how racey it is. Features were in the books by 7pm which left me time to head to Chemung, and finally Five Mile Point, but I got to FMP with about 3 laps to go.

Yes, car counts were disappointing but consider that a number of guys already have a regular Saturday night deal. They may be in a points battle. Tough deal for a brand new place to open mid-season. Secondly many are taking a wait and see attitude. Some were/are concerned with the safety of the place based on some comments that were made after the tire test from last week. I think still others may be apprehensive about the concrete surface. Like the old Life cereal commercial. Hey!! let Mikey try it. This Mikey does like it. {LOL} Today should be better. I want to give a big :applause: to TC. He came back from a pit stop from (?) what ever problem he had and threw everything he had short of the "horn" at Earl Paules going for the win. Raced him hard but clean. No one better than Teddy when he plays it straight. A real treat to watch. (i can't believe
I'm writing this). The place will find it mark soon enough, the tweeking will continue, and when the rubber gets down and a second groove comes in, Shang 2 will be a place people are talking about. Many good things to come I believe.

Uticamike: I though you were going to the Dog for the TV Series race.

If you didn't go to the Dog you made the right choice.

Mod11, I didn't go to the Dog because Shang2 was running. My fondness for the original drew me there. If their opening was going to be delayed, I would have gone but I did here Kirk kicked butt and the racing wasn't up to the usual
TVMS standards. I'm crewing Friday at Perry, and skipping Spencer (and Shang2 that night). Utica Deb is NOT a race fan.
