Yeah, I was pissed that there were no ooooooooh's and aaaaaaaaaah's. I'm not a big firework fan so they're all the same to me. Things blow up, they look cool, they do it 600 more times and each time it looks less cool. That's just me though. lol

They were so slow and dragged out, and no boomers either - they charged $30 a head for a not so great show :(

It's not like it used to be because the Fire Marshall will only let them shoot them so high in the air. In all the years of doing Fireworks do you ever remember a Fire Marshall there and a Riverhead Town Police officer??? Only the last two years, the town has really clamped down on them.

hollywood, i remember the Fire Marshall from Riverhead Town being there most every year. Maybe not all the time but at least for a little while.

Yeah the old Fire Marshall didn't restrict what went on. The new one does. The old Fire Marshall used to hang out in Turn 2 by the scoreboard. This guy is on the track, with the fireworks guys, watching everything they do. I'm not bitc*ing it's his job. That 's why there is a big difference in the last 2 years.

Now I have been in the infield for a few years now and there has ALWAYS been a Fire Marshall there, at least to inspect the set-up. Whether he stays or not I couldn't tell you, but when they used to set-up in turn 3 & 4, he inspected it all before given a go-ahead....and honestly, with all the woods to the east, I don't think they would restrict height as that would be more dangerous.....plus, shooting directly over the audience....you would want height...

I didn't think they were shot that high at all this year, which to me made it a little more comfortable to look at (yeah, I know, I'm getting old.) But I had to chuckle when a few came down still glowing around the FM's car...A little pricey, but my little one enjoyed 'em, and that's what counts.
