AFTERNOON RAINS FORCE SPENCER TO CANCEL

Buck Catalano will have to wait one more week before he tries to win NASCAR Weekly Modified Spencer career win number 50. Fans will also have to wait another week as rains forced officials to cancel racing at Spencer on Friday, July 17.

“We waited as long as possible,” stated promoter John White. “We were looking okay when rains started to fall around 4 o’clock.” It was to have been King’s Auto Sales and Service night at the track. Ironically the last full rainout back in June was also to have been King’s Auto Sales and Service night.

This coming Friday, July 24, will be a regular adult $10 night. On tap will be double points in both the Super Six and Auto Value Four Cylinder Scorpion divisions. Also in competition will be the NASCAR Weekly Modifieds and Street Stocks.

Joining in the action will be the Kids’ Bicycle races. The kids get to take to the speedway following auto practice and the scheduled starting time of 7:30 p.m. Kids can register their bikes at the speedway ticket office before 6:45 p.m. Kids must have a helmet to compete.

The scheduled appearance of the NORA Limited Supermodifieds on July 17, will probably be rescheduled. ”We are currently working with their officials to make this happen,” added White.

Spencer Speedway is located just fifteen minutes east of Rochester, NY, along Route 104 in the Town of Williamson. Spencer Speedway is the local “ NASCAR Place to Race” for upstate New York. Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship.
