This track is pretty cool.....

For late models you need to buy an ASA Track License for $125.00 and also have to pay a $60 entry fee every race. That fee includes driver (or owner) entrance.

Sounds like a good place for a NELMA race.

I think the most cars they have had yet were 8.

I believe its almost 2 hours past Mountain and it is a beautiful place, About 5-6 lanes wide around the whole track. Its a cement surface.

Infield pits and the neatest thing, there are always drag races up the hill while the stock cars races are running.

"2 hours past Mountain " well thats a different story. With my back that would be a little to much tourture for me.
Top 5 would pay more then winning at the Head.
A N.E.L.M.A race would be cool.
Still need a sponsor.

Just a note that the payout posted above is for a 30 car field....

if you read the small print at the bottom it says the winner gets $1000 if there is less than 12 cars. still not too shabby. i'l maybe give you an hour and a half further than mtn., but not 2 hours further.

$1,00.00 to win is not too shabby at all either, the brakedown is not too bad.

I Google mapped it and its 2 hours 22 minutes furher from Mountain, not trying to prove a point , just curious.

Try getting directions from your house to Mountain, then get directions from your house to Shangri La, THEN see the difference. You don't go by Mountain to get to the Shangri La....it's less then 2 hours longer to get to Shangri La then to Mountain from Long Island...

This would be a perfect location for a NELMA race. You would have a potential of over 30-35 cars (under NELMA rules).

We all eagerly await an announcement......:)

Yes, its about 12 minutes east of Chemung on the grounds of Skyview Dragway.

And yes they are ASA rules Late Models. Probably the same rules as Adirondack and Lake Erie Speedway. Not sure how the rules compare to Riverhead and Mountain.

the rules aren't too far off. a good amount of the field are mountain cars. some things we have a little more of, some things we have a little less of. after the last 2 riverhead shows, me and the 75 crew will be heading up there.

They just made a change and no longer pay out same night of the race.
The track management explained their reasons for it on their website.
Of course it wasn't popular, but they did it up front.
The guy who built that track is really a forward thinking guy, he got the local community behind him right away. The local television stations each did a piece on what the track will mean to the local economy.
Not easy to do here, but still a decent model of how to try and become a good neighbor and be seen as an asset to the community.
