Trying to decide if a trip to Chemung is worth it today, with a rainy forecast.

Congrats to Ryan Preece on his victory last night. He was totally dominating. Thanks to all who made it possible for the former students to give the command to start the race, and for the victory lane photos with Ryan. Thanks to Ryan for the shirts.

Thanks to Eric Goodale for letting the kids sit in the car and for the shirts also.

Let's start planning on the 10,000 to win show for next year.

Giving away 1400 bucks was never more fun. And for Ryan to end up with it, made it worth every cent.

Good race.

First time there and I like the place. Don't like the time trial stuff, wish I saw more racing, but it was worth the trip.

Odd sighting after the races in the pits........

Walking by a car (two digit number, has a 1 and a 2 in it), anyways, I saw the pit crew wrapping all four tires with saran wrap. WHY????? Advantage???? Why not all the teams doing this???? Does seem to be a "mo money so they can" thing.... Geesh, I bet even the lowest of the low buck teams could even afford some saran wrap.

Just wondering WHY?

It might have something to do with the fact the the man that owns the car with a 1 and 2 on it also owns the tire truck that is the track tire supplier, that was parked next to the 1-2 hauler?

I am not sure what you saw in this instance, however I have seen plenty of open wheel road racers wrapping tyres in "saran wrap." It is to protect the tyres from "junk" on the ground that they might run over and lead to a puncture or get embedded (when it is hot).

Keeps them 'fresher' until the next race. Lots of new tires come that way from the factory, and I'm sure T/S knows a little about tires.

..........had to have been over 100laps of green flag. thats good stuff especially at a bullring

i would think the tires would be spent. must be to keep trailer clean

When the tires are hot anything and everything sticks to them and they also stick to the trailer floor, not saying that's why but maybe.

OK, all valid points........ and I have some "questions to the answers"

The cars were off the track for about 40 mins by the time I got back to the pits. They were already "hot and through the pits" to their spots and wouldn't have picked anything up from their spot to the trailer door. Maybe a valid point about keeping the trailer clean, I guess I should have looked to see if their were booties to slip on when the crew walked in and out.

Don't they buy all new tires each week at the races? why keep tires with 175 lap race "fresh"? And if that is a "trick of the trade" why doesn't everyone do that? I mean I'd be selling the wrap alongside the tire truck, make a few extra bucks.

It just struck me as odd. I'll have to do a survey at the next mod race.... maybe I'll invest in some saran wrap and make a side business out of it. Maybe add some extra bucks into the purse like LIMM did.

It keeps the freshness in and unwanted germs out.

I use it for pork oll sandwiches all the time.

I don't know, if 31 teams don't care if the tires stick. Maybe they don't stick?

I'm going with they were just messing with us and it doesn't mean a thing.

If there was anything that they wanted to hide they would just take off the tires and put them in the trailer.

Oh and as the post started, Great job Ryan!!!
