Saturday, October 10 - Seekonk Grand Prix Slick Track

What True Value Modifed Drivers will invade the Slick Track and take on Chrome Horn Veteran the LIMODMANIAC and Area Auto scribe Kevin Rice?

I have heard rumors Ryan Preece may be invading the slick track to put the Maniac in the wall.

The challenge is out there for any True Value racers and any ChromeHorn people to join us.

Will Jaws make the trip? Will Bobby1717 be back at the track that saw him take down a victory back back in July? Will Modracer11 or Truevaluefan be making their debut at the slick track? Will Hossfan be able to pull one of his rare victories again? Or will the Maniac dominate the action despite the threats made by Mr. Preece?

Tentatively scheduled for 7 pm - we hope you will join us for some fun action on the Slick Track at the Seekonk Grand Prix. There is no registration fee, but let us know you will be there by replying to this post.

Then cheer on the modifieds the next day at Seekonk.

I'm definitely interested in going. Not sure if I'll be able to go, though. Got a lot of laps around that slick track so maybe I stand a chance.

Add the Joe Doucette and his pit crew, there has to be something I can qualify for.

Woo Hoo!! Sounds great. Open to all modified drivers, owners, crew, fans, etc.. Open to everyone!! Can't wait to see more names signed up here on the chromehorn. Remember no entry fee if you sign up early.. Oh wait, there is no entry fee. Just what ever the tickets cost. I think its 7 tickets for 30 bucks or something like that. Or 5 bucks a ticket.. Hey can we get a group deal on this? Someone should talk to the owner of the 52 team. Doesn't he own the place???

Bobby1717

If we get all the names printed can we have a Pick 5 minus the pole winner?

How bout a 50 lap feature ? And black flag the ones who are out there just to wreck the field!

I'm hearing rumors of 12 go karts on the track at the same time. That's almost like a 24 car field at Riverside Park.

And I hear trophies are definitely in the plans. How about a purse? LOL

Okay Here is the deal-
There will be 5 races run for trophies in this "1st Annual Seekonk Grand Prix Event". The trophies are on order and will be on display the day of the race.
The drivers race is scheduled for 7 PM. Track Owner Wayne Darling told me that he will have 12 cars ready to go. There will be a "Drivers Only plus LIMM" race, a "Crew Chiefs" race, a "Crew Members Race", a "Chrome Horn Members Only" race, and a "fans" race.
Drivers so far signed up are: Ryan Preece, Dwight Jarvis, Jacob Dore, Joe Doucette and of course Long Island Mod Maniac. The remaining entries will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis on this board, and by TVMRS points after that until the field is full of willing participants.
The other races are pretty much self-explanatory, but preference in these starting grids will go to those who sign up on this board. For more information you can email either LIMM or myself through this board, or look for the guy handing out AARN papers, which has the scoop on the Casella/Hirschman DQ from Twin-State.
There will be a minimum of three judges from the crowd to determine an official winner. All decisions are final and are not subject to any post race tech or replays unless deemed necessary.

10-07-2009, 07:51 PM
Longislandmodmaniac knowing you, you will probably go up there on Friday now and run that track all night to see what the track conditions are at night so you can adjust your driving style.

If not I bet you will be there two hours before hand taking lap times of all of the cars. Don't forget to youtube the event.

Former Supermodified driver Mike Douglas Sr is the first to sign up for the "Crew Chief Race".
Any photographers (are you there JED?) interested in taking victory lane photos. Any flagman interested in waving the white and checkered flags? The yellow and black flags cannont be used- can they LIMM?

limodmaniac
10-07-2009, 10:13 PM
Actually not in favor of the yellow flag, but if the black flag is needed I say use it!

Don't want this to turn into a wreck fest. Wanna see some good driving out there. Good double file start to the race. Do we need to have a drivers meeting?

Bobby1717 - looking for a sponsor.. Let me know if you are available.

The track does take on a different feel at night time.

spectators are encouraged to attend.

The one i fear the most is Jon Mckennedy. is he signed up yet??

SUfan
10-08-2009, 06:22 AM
If you want to be in the "Chrome Horn" members race please let me know soon, as there are only a few more openings for that race.
"TrueValueFan" should I include you in the list? I have Mod 134, Bobby 1717, LIMM, and RaceVoice on the list, plus a few others who have emailed in entries. A photo of the winners trophies should be posted on Friday evening- if I can figure out how to post it on here.

Bobby1717
10-08-2009, 08:01 AM
Racevoice, I cannot attend this weekends race. If the cars came with car seats for three year olds then I would be in. I'm just supporting the longislandmodmaniac's madness.

Thanks though,

New signups include Crew Chiefs Mike Weld (TVMRS #28) and Shaun "Chowda" Leblanc (TVMRS 44), as well as SickLajoie in the Chrome Horn race.
Great to hear JED should be there for a victory lane photo. I'll try to use my influence to get it in the next issue of AARN. This is bigger than Super Dirt Week anyway isn't it?
Just got another two entries via cell phone for the drivers race. Sean Bodreau and Mike Douglas Jr are in the field. Looks like McKennedy might not get in the field LIMM. We're running out of available cars.
The weather looks like clear skies and 60 degrees at racetime for the 1st Annual Seekonk Grand Prix night at the races!
Does anyone know how to post a photo on here so I can get the trophies posted tomorrow?

Add Dan Cabral Owner and Crew Chief for the TV Mod 55.

SUfan
10-09-2009, 06:38 PM
Dan I would like to put you into the Owners Race only for now rather than both to give as many people as possible a chance to race. Weather still looks dry for the whole weekend. It's going to be a good one. Racing Saturday and Sunday at the big track, with some Go-Kart Racing and then (?) on Saturday night.

limodmaniac

By the grace of God and 6 horsepower, I'm winning one of these

limodmaniac
10-09-2009, 08:28 PM
It's official. There is a guaranteed purse for the race. The winner will now take home 10 bucks in each race. A total of 50 bucks will be handed out to the winners. 2nd - 12 will pay nothing because we all know that finishing 2nd on the Slick Track is just as bad as finishing in last. Looking for additional sponsors to put the total purse into 3 digits.

Bobby1717
10-09-2009, 08:48 PM
Nice looking trophies, Make sure there are pictures of the winners raising the trophies over their head.

What will the drivers be drinking in victory lane? (milk, coke, pepsi, red bull)

If I win I plan on climbing the fence ... no back flips for me ( but maybe a Polish victory lap)

Preece started ninth in the 12 cart field and masterfully worked his way to the lead, passing early leader Rob Goodenough for the trophy. LIMM announced after the race that the highest finishing driver in the TVMRS race on Sunday who was in the cart race would be awarded a $200 bonus. LIMM finished second in the "fans race", but was unable to get a trophy in three attempts, despite the fact that he was wearing a Donny Lia t-shirt.

OMG what a blast. Taught the TrueValueFan afew things and by his 7rh race of the night, he was a threat to win.

Preece, obviously had the illegal cart or somehow soaked the tires, and defintiely jumped the start at the start of the race, but thanks to Ryan for taking out the number 12 car in one of the races. He deserved to be sent into the wall and you did a great jub getting him there.

The LIMM looked to be hooked up in practice but by the luck of the draw didn't get a great car. However with all those great drivers it wouldn't have mattered. It wasn't my night but lets do it again next year.

Hope Jarvis enjoyed his bonus money for showing up for the slick track.

Thanks Kevin for organizing things. Great job!

I do think Preece should have been checked and tech'ed for traction control. Thanks to everyone who had hand in organizing.

LIMM the photo in AARN this weeks shows that you had inside position on both Preece and Jarvis in the slick track race. How did you let them beat you?

limodmaniac
10-15-2009, 04:01 PM
Great photo. I think that may have been when I thought I could have spun Ryan out and taken him out of the lead. But with him anticipating me doing that, he screamed, " Don't be a jerk Jim." I decided to do the right thing and not take him out.

What can I say? My go kart was loose in turn one, and tight in turn two. I was down on horsepower and the power steering wasn't working. Ryan had traction control and I didn't.

But wait til next year!

No comments on the video????
