a little late, how many years has it been now? 4? How out of date will the tour cars be.... might make a great SK light though.

Outdated? The car that Ryan Preece drove this past weekend to a 2nd place finish was built in 1996 by lenny. Those cars will be competitive in the right hands.
The bigger problem with those cars is the fact that the Tour cars are Kuhnel/Stefanik designs. With out the jigs to make the parts they might be a bit difficult to repair if there is a crash. However Art Barry may bable to use his jigs to make the parts for them.
I believe the original X6 jigs from Peter Beal are now owned by the Perry family

why do some people think that if its not a brand new car, it's out of date?
the technology hasn't changed that much.
bolt on parts have changed some, yes but the BASICS haven't.

Is it made public info (except for those there) on who buys it and for how much?

I'm sure that FOI requires public disclosure. It might not make the front page of the New York Times, but if you ask you should be able to get the info.

Dont be surprised if "someone who looks identical" to TC shows up to bid on all the equiptment, as TC will be down south racing. The jig was not confiscated with the rest of the items taken by the Feds.
TC is not in the 36 next year!

Is that definate that he is not running the 36 or is that rumors swirling around the pit area?

Im sorry....I dont want to be someone who starts rumors, or stories, without naming resources, or having proof. Let me state this: My guess is that TC will not be in the 36 next year, and Im guessing the car owner of the 36 might not return to the mod tour. That's why Im guessing he may be interested in the auction!
Remember....Just a guess!
Thanks

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

It's got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks, it was a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas

The best racing related Blues Borthers quote was my first time at Williams Grove. I asked a guy behind me which classes they ran there. His reply, "We got both kinds of sprints, 358's and 410's."

True story.

Straight from Mr. Ed Whelan at 12:42 PM EST October 13th 2009.

TC Ted Christopher has not been fired or released from the 36.

He does have motors for sale if anyone would like to buy one.

those chassis look almost identical to the A1 racing/ S&S speed chassis. are the chassis and a-frames made from the same jigs?

i guess that they didn't have much equipment. no tools or setup stuff. not enough to put all the cars back together. empty pit box and parts cart. but if you needed nerfs or bumpers you were in luck. even the hauler was empty. i was under the impression that their stuff was siezed. perhaps a lot walked away??? i was disapointed.

Who bought the trailer?

rumrunner
11-06-2009, 10:24 PM
Some guy bought just the empty trailer for $87,500. Many people couldn't believe how much he paid considering Galante paid less than half that 7 years ago. I overheard someone saying that the guy who bought it planed to put legend cars in it.

Tractor went for $22,500.

After viewing and buying at this auction I was impressed with what that team once was. However I do wonder how much TC or Barry must have owned on paper because alot was missing (tools, chassis jig, pit equipment, scales, etc. Maybe that stuff will be auctioned off at a later date (which I doubt).

One little controversy with item #3 (the most complete SK). Mike Christopher appeared to have the winning bid at $11,000. But the US Marshals said it did not meet the reserve. They said sealed bids would be taken after the auction. Mike still ended up with the winning bid for that car and 3 others. I heard the Tour cars were bought just for the Ford motors. Then I also heard that those heads are no longer legal. Somehow Tom Bolles, Agor, The #2 owner, and Stefanik are all involved in the 2 tour cars.

I thought the same thing.
I was surprised only one SK motor and it was a Billy the Kid.
I thought Teddy was running Dodge motors in the SK.

Ted owned all of the shop equipment and the cars were housed in his facility. Galante owned the cars, haulers and pit carts. Dodge Sk motor was sent back to Pettit to cover the outstanding balance.
