This Saturday Oct 10, there is a Plainville Stadium Reunion at the Berlin Fairgrounds. The event is scheduled between 10AM and 2PM. Lots of retired drivers, as well as several old racing cars and other memorabilia, are scheduled to be there.
Capping off the event is supposed to be a retired drivers race, (or 2) using go-carts around the 1/4 midget dirt track
With the northern mod tour silent this weekend, it may be something different to do. An event that offers a few laughs, as well as greeting some of the "old timers" who were able to compete at the quarter mile track
Rain date is Sunday
(Now, if only someone was able to re-create the stadium hotdogs that were sold there)

Thanks

When did the Tour race at Plainville Stadium?

July 1961 - results:

1.Tony Mordino - #52
2. George Lombardo - #XD-2
3. Phil Smith - #6

OK, I made that up, but I was there on that date.

Pretty sure NASCAR never raced at the Stadium

Plainville Stadium never ran a Tour so to speak.

The would run Modifieds, sportsman, and one or two other classes.
The ran open comp shows many times on Wednesday nights.
It was know as "Run what you brung".
Richie showed up on night with a wing on his modified.

Some of the big guns would show up to race against the regulars.
It was a great little 1/4 mile track. Back in the day Stan Gregor and Reggie, Dave Alkas, Ronnie Wycoff, Ronnie Rocco,Timmy Berndt, John Anderson, Jap Membrino were some of the regulars I remember.

And the beer was ICE cold.

Plainville was the track that started with a fight & then a race broke out.
what a great place on Saturday nights growing up.

Minus the Hoosier on the left rear, Butch's 44 looks like they rolled it off the trailer after the last race and parked it in the garage in Waterbury until last week. It's still pretty as ever.

Bobby Mikulak's looking like he could still play some first base for bourbon street.

Dave Alkas, Don Moon, Billy Greco, Ray Miller and Sonny O look like they are ready to go still.

First time I've seen Danny Gallulo Jr. since I was 8 or so, well a picture anyways.

you are all pretty lucky to have seen all those greats, I hope this takes off so I get a chance to come from Florida for the next one.

We need more pictures!
