I saw a post on another messageboard about a modified testing at North Wilkesboro this week. I don't know how significant it is, but figured some folks on the horn may be interested.

What board was it Tink?

Yeah, it was on RaceRap. I can't help but have a little hope about N. Wilkes when someone tests there. I absolutely loved to go there for the September triple headers back in the day.

A later post says it was Susan Harwell, a part time Stadium and ASA competitor. She was more than likely doing it just to do it.

I just read that USAR Pro Cup has scheduled a race at North Wilkesboro for Oct 3, 2010. The story on their web-site is HERE (http://www.usarprocup.com/)

You saw that on WXII, and they don't know their butt from a hole in the ground. USAR and the ASA Late-Model series have already signed on for sure, and they have said that any of the "Big 3" of NASCAR will not be coming there. I imagine the mods will be there, but don't believe they have signed up yet. PASS is the third series, just found out, they are getting the date worked out now and it will be annouced later in the week.

I would love to see a LMSC/Modified combo race like Martinsville used to have with the Dogwood and Cardinal 500 races. Wilkesboro has the infield capacity to hold 100 LMSC and 70 Modifieds, unlike Martinsville.

I would not mind seeing the September triple header come back, too. Those six cylinder/modified/lmsc races at NWS were great back in the day.

Not really one to go to unless it's VIR, and I seriously doubt that is going to happen.

Or, they might go to Road Atlanta.

And 5 cars will show up.......too far away, too much of a change of pace. We can't get cars to show up 30min from the house, much less 5 hours away.

Speed51 is reporting a tour race at the front stretch quarter mile at Atlanta with Cup quals.

Why 5 hours instead of 45 minutes to Charlotte?????????????

The 1/4 mile at either track is just like Bowman Gray, only LESS exciting, how great.

That's a mistake.
Even at Charlotte, it's a mistake.

People will be bored to death. 150 laps on what everyone watches Legends cars on. This is an attempt to duplicate Bowman Gray, and it won't work. At BGS you are on top of the track, down there everyone will be a mile away watching a parade.

Now it is being reported by Speed51 that the mods will be at both 1/4 miles', Atlanta and Charlotte. This just keeps getting better, maybe before It's over with we can get Circus clowns to ride shotgun and throw candy out as the cars race by the fence. You mean to tell me that a group of people got togther and said, "Man that is a good idea"..........?

$ 30,000 motors to go 60-70 mph are you kidding. maybe the tour is all 1/4 mile tracks

I wonder who the brainchild behind this idea was ? Is NASCAR deliberately trying to kill the Southern Tour by running on these go-kart tracks

I can see the Modifieds returning to North Wilkesboro and providing some good racing, but the quarter mile legends tracks at AMS and LMS (or should I say CMS)? ...can u say zzzzzzz.

I say let the modifieds loose on the big tracks and give the crowd their moneys worth. If it means using the Bristol hubs and restrictor plates for the safety of the drivers, so be it. I personally think you would have a much better show that would be worth seeing

We were talking about this today, and don't know why I didn't think of it, but you will not see the mods at Wilkesboro unless it is a outside promoted show. If they don't get NASCAR sanctioning, which it looks like they won't, you won't see any NASCAR sanctioned division running there.

Rumor has it that the ASA Southern mods and the Rolling Thunder mods are going to be running there in 2010

The WMST is barely with us.
Two races next year on legend car tracks as a prelim for Cup qualifying won't help either.

It's time to fold it too.

The folks at C&C are probably the best bet for a modified show at North Wilkesboro in 2010, I would think?

I wonder what kind of crowd draw you would get with a combination Modified/Supermodified event at North Wilkesboro?

Gary66

Forget the Supers, the IMSA guys always mess that up (*see Shootout 2008).

Have to agree with you 100% on this one. That is the only rumor I have heard, but of course next year is long time away. The southern tour would never have a race there becuase NASCAR would throw out the sanction excuse.
