Listening to the broadcast, they called it a "Barn burner"? I call it a mess so far. But it did seem to calm down as the race went on.

Saw this picture and was wondering how in the heck this start was allowed. And to think Hirschman had the gaul to say Preece was jumping starts and it was inexperienced that let caused him to surrender the lead, and then (from what I've been told by a few people) stuff Preece in the backstretch on that restart.

I also heard from a few of those people that were there in attendance that Hirschman did the same thing to Hossfeld which triggered a big wreck in addition to being the cause to another one; maybe more.

Can anyone else fill me in?

That picture is of a restart, not the original start of the race, which was double file. It also looks like it was taken during a heat race, not the feature. The sun was gone by the time that started.
As to the other allegations, there was contact between Hirschman and Hossfeld, with Hirschman taking him high out of the dogleg, followed by the wreck. Not suprising considering his attitude and driving tactics sometimes. This is the reason why he doesn't have a ride on the Whelen Tour, and likely never will again.

they didnt run a heat race matt or ryan because they were locked in the top 5...matt jumped THREE times and they warned him EVERY TIME..preece jumped ONCE..and they said 99 you do it again your goin to the back..and in the TOUR race matt said he "thought" he was clear when he junked chucky in the wall..matt drove like that because one of the main sponsors for the race happend to be on his car..he had somethin to prove..enough said

It's the sk race the sun was out, single file restart, passing before the SF line looks like a jump to me.

It looked like the SK raced to me, too. Maybe not a jump, as any lapped car would have started on the inside, as stated at the driver's meeting, for both Modified races.

yes but isn't Matt? I thought that was the point of the question with the picture.

Hirschman took the blame for the wreck with Hossfield in a video on speed51.
I know it may not make Hossfeld feel any better, but that's racin.
I don't think you can ask more of him.

are you sure you were at the drivers meeting? lapped cars were told to restart in their order of running, not like the OLD cup style, lapped to the inside. I know, I asked the question.

Pretty bold statement to make I think. Do you know Matt personally? Just what is his attitude and what are his driving tactics? I've seen Matt race plenty and he races like he's being raced. Most recently at the Comerford Memorial he was getting clubbed like a baby seal by "Showtime" and Kid Wreck in the first event, had enough and started shoving back. In the second race he drove hard behind Sesely for most of the last half of it and had many opportunities to turn him and didn't ,all with a big purse at stake. I'm not president of the Utica Chapter of the Matt Hirschman FanClub and I wasn't at the Shootout but your statement seems a bit much. If so called "tactics" kept people out of WMT seats explain Blewett,TC, Rocco, Lia.........

I am proud sponsor of the Matt Hirschman 60, and didn't know Matt until last year. The reason I've helped Matt out is pretty simple. At any pit party, he was the one who went out of his way to have a conversation. Having met his family at the races, it is a pleasure to support their team. I look forward to some more great racing by Hirschman, whether it's at Mahoning, ROC, some open show or the Whelen tour.

so the lapped cars would go to the inside. I stand by that.

sorry, that was never said. nor did it happen at any time on the track.

Regardless if that was stated in the meeting, Matt wasn't a lapped down at any point so none of that really comes into play. Niether Matt nor Preece had to run heat races so that was indeed the feature. It is a single file restart which means this was the one that Matt used to take the lead for the final time.

Quite the jump if I must say. To be the leader and have the 2nd place car up to your LF by the line would certainly leave a sour taste in my mouth. I don't know where Matt gets off being happy about that on top of jumping multiple times before that and then calling Preece out on his "lack of experience." as to why Matt was able to get by him on the restart.
