BETHEL, NY – Since its inception in 2008, LegendStock at Bethel Motor Speedway has been a premier event for Legends in the Northeast, as drivers from across the country have made the trip to the ¼-mile paved oval to compete for a $1,500 payday and coveted three-foot tall guitar shaped trophy. This year, the race will take on added significance, as it was announced that LegendStock 2010 – scheduled for August 7 – will also serve as an INEX Asphalt Nationals qualifier.

In the two years that the race has been run, it has seen two different winners. LegendStock 2008 was won by Connecticut’s Michael Gervais Jr., while 2009 INEX Asphalt Pro division national champion Daniel Hemric from North Carolina was the winner of LegendStock 2009. Bethel played host to an INEX AsphAlt Nationals qualifier in 2009, and the track’s 2009 Legends champion, Mike Alcaro, scored the victory.

Alcaro was the Semi Pro division winner at LegendStock 2008, and competed in the Pro division in 2009. Alcaro scored a total of nine regular-season wins at Bethel during the 2009 season, but got caught up in an early-race incident during LegendStock 2009 and ended up with a sixth-place finish.

Since its reopening in August of 2008, Bethel has been a destination for many talented Legends drivers from up and down the East Coast and beyond. More than 45 different Legends drivers took to the speedway during the 2009 season. Bethel has scheduled 17 races for INEX Legends and Bandoleros during the 2010 season, which kicks off on April 24th. The track’s full schedule is available online at www.bethelmotorspeedway.com.

Among those who could be contenders for the win at LegendStock 2010 is Masters division competitor Tim Brockhouse of Minnesota. Brockhouse made several trips to Bethel in 2008 and 2009, and he scored the Masters division win at LegendStock in both of those years. Brockhouse led the majority of the LegendStock 2009 event, but Hemric was able to muscle his way past as he and Jason Palmer took advantage of a late-race restart that set the stage for a three-lap shootout for the win. Brockhouse ended up third overall.

Dusty Summers made the trip up from Maryland for LegendStock 2010, and he scored the win in the Young Lions division. New Jersey’s Roger Coss was the Semi Pro division winner.

With a total purse of $3,000, LegendStock is believed to be the highest-paying single event for Legends in the Northeast. However, many drivers have hinted that even the large payday is overshadowed by the prestige of taking home the unique guitar trophy.

Bandoleros also race as part of the LegendStock program. Matt Evans was the winner of the Bandolero race in 2008, and Andrew Bickford scored the win in 2009.

More information about LegendStock 2010 will be available in the coming weeks.
