St. Johns, Pa- In conjunction with pole day qualifying, a handful of 6/8-cylinder cars and trucks took to the asphalt at Sundance Vacations Speedway Saturday for round no. 3 of the Mountain Madness Enduro Series. When it was all said and done, Rob McCormick found himself a lap ahead of the competition, as he took the checkered flag for his first enduro win of the season.

Sam Morgan led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 100-lap event and quickly surrendered the lead to Chris Rosely. Shortly after, Mark Martini took command and was pursued by John Vullo, Jr, Tom Szoke and Ed Brown, Jr.

From the ninth starting position, Rob McCormick moved into the race lead on lap 4.

While setting a torrid pace, McCormick continued to hold the point at halfway, followed by Brown, TJ Kapish, Greg Harris and Mike Parisi.

Uncontested throughout, McCormick lapped the second place driver on lap 72 and continued to take the checkers for his first win of the season. Brown was forced to settle for second, with Kapish, Harris and Parisi in tow.

Time trials for Sunday’s season opener were also held on Saturday. Picking up where he left off last season, Kyle Ebersole ran the fastest Modified time, as did Chip Wanamaker in the Street Stocks and Dave Freundt in the FWD division. The fast timers will “roll the dice” prior to the features on Sunday to determine the number of positions that will be inverted for the starting lineup.
