(LEHIGHTON, PA 4-10-10) Now entering its 59th year, Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley Speedway begins full weekly action will all divisions, Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods and Pro4 Late Models, on Saturday April 17 starting at 6:00 p.m.

Headlining the night will be a $3000-to-win 100-lap feature for the Modifieds which is a carryover event from the 2009 Mahoning Valley Speedway Poker Series Tournament.
This is the fifth of five events which will crown the champion of the special match series.

Last year five 100-lap $3000 to win shows were scheduled but after several tries due to inclement weather the finale was put on hold until Opening Night 2010. A $5000 jackpot will be divvied between the top three drivers who are able to put together the best poker hand. That lucky trio will get $2500, $1500 and $1000 respectively.

Currently there are ten drivers who have a shot at sharing the payoff led by Eric Beers with a pair of Aces. Others include Earl Paules, Brian DeFebo, Chip Santee, James Pritchard, Jr., Matt Hirschman, John Bennett, Don Wagner, Andy Szapacs and Lonnie Behler.

Time trials will be used to lock in the top-12 starters and then heats and a consolation will be run to fill out the remainder of the grid.

Also on the card will be a regular heat and features for the Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods and Pro4’s.

A whole new Mahoning Valley Speedway Poker Tournament, “7 Card Stud” begins on June 12.

The speedway, which starts its sixth season under the direction of the husband and wife team Doug and Gena Hoffman, is located on PA route 443 two miles west of Lehighton.
