Check out Stafford’s website lately? They do a pretty fine job..

Pretty sure I’ve posted this before but if you’d like to take a trip down the Sizzler memory lane check this out..
Sizzler History (http://www.staffordmotorspeedway.com/Pages/News/SizzlerRecaps.htm)

Additionally they have put together a fine recap of their ’86 season..
1986 (http://www.staffordmotorspeedway.com/Pages/News/40-YEAR-1986.htm)

Both feature lots of “Pitstopper” coverage, including some great shots for our photographer friends, past and present..

Well done SMS..

wow- i never realized Maynard Troyer was so dominant at the Sizzler. Won 3x in the mid to late 70's back to back.

Cool stuff.

Thanks Goldy.

Stafford should think about putting all those stories and pictures into a book. Some great stuff there.

You're right! Bundle 'em up with some additional photos and release it as a book or a special edition program. Though I think the programs I purchased in the late 80's to early 90's had these same (or similar) race capsules inside...you really got your moneys worth with those programs!

Axel – at that time, he was the man – I think Maynard carried with him a certain something as an “invader” at Stafford.

For me his car, right up to the time he still had the Pinto, even when his customer cars converted to the Cavalier was “the car”..

All this talk of Troyer – knowing he sold the business to Colton - I wonder, does he still attend any races? Where is he now?

good question. Anyone know?

I remember looking at old AARN's and seeing his cars as a kid. They were just the nicest looking cars.

Maynard last I knew was in good health and enjoying life in Florida. His cars were always meticulous and his craftsmanship was top notch. Troyer cars were the force that stepped the
modifieds up to the"professional" class and closed the book on the jalopy era. Troyer Race Cars Inc. today continues Maynards high standards. He certainly left his mark.
