St. Johns, Pa- After being caught up in a pile up on the second lap of the Sport Modified feature, Earl Paules of Palmerton, PA stormed through the field to take the checkers Sunday at Sundance vacations Speedway. Dave Macomber of Long Island, NY scored his first Late Model victory at the speedway and following an early race skirmish, Paul Morgan, Jr. of Mountaintop, PA raced up from the back of the field to win his second straight Factory Stock feature.

Todd Baer started from the pole and led the opening circuit of the 40-lap Sport Modified feature over Jason Hearne, Ricky Ross, Jr., Nick Pecko and Will Schneider.

Paul Frantz began to mount a challenge for the fifth position and while battling on the outside of Schneider, Frantz was squeezed into the front stretch wall as the pair of drivers exited turn four. Several cars were collected in the lap two melee, including Barry Callavini and Earl Paules. Frantz needed the double hook to the pit area and many laps down, Callavini did rejoin the field in the latter stages.

Green flag racing resumed and Ross overtook Hearne for second and after restarting at the tail end of the field, Paules grabbed the fifth spot on lap five.

Hearne retook the second spot after the restart and began to apply pressure to Baer. Baer tried to block an inside pass in turn one and the top two drivers touched wheels, which sent Baer around. Both drivers were forced to the tail end of the field and Paules inherited the race lead under the lap eight caution.

Paules continued to hold the lead on lap 19 with Ross, Mike Speeney, Pecko and Anthony Sesely in tow and then another yellow waved with Hearne and Baer tangled in turn one.

Sesely spun and brought out the caution with eight laps remaining, but Paules was flawless on the restart, as he went on to take the $1,000 prize for his first Sport Modified feature win of the season over Ross, Hearne, Speeney and Pecko.

Heat race wins went to Todd Baer and Barry Callavini. Callavini picked up $50 when his finishing position was pulled in victory lane for the Sundance Vacations Contingency Program.

Kyle Harvell started from the pole position and was overtaken by Lorin Arthofer following the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap Late Model main event.

The first of four yellows waved when several cars slowed up in front of Jerry Hildebrand. Hildebrand made contact, suffered a flat tire and headed pit side.

Green flag racing resumed and Mike Sweeney held second behind Arthofer. Dave Macomber worked his way into third, followed by Harvell and Joe Burns.

Another yellow waved on lap three when Mike Coll and Craig Lutz tangled in turns three and four.

With the green flag back out, Sweeney attempted to make an outside pass for the lead, which opened the door for Macomber. Macomber got by Sweeney and then set his sights on the leader.

Macomber caught Arthofer and completed the pass on lap six. Meanwhile, Sweeney overtook second. Not many laps later, Arthofer regained the position back.

Macomber began to distance himself from the racing behind him and crossed the stripe to grab the $800 prize and notch his first ever win at the speedway. Arthofer finished second, followed by Burns, Sweeney and Austin Kochenash.

Dave Macomber and Austin Kochenash scored heat race wins and as long as he meets the program requirements, Arthofer won $50 when his finishing position was pulled in victory lane for the Sundance Vacations Contingency Program.

After suffering motor issues during his last outing, Wayne Lowe started form the pole and led the first go around in the 20-lap Factory Stock feature over Eric Wink, Brandon Oltra, Jeff Searfoss and Paul Morgan, Jr.

It didn’t take long for things to heat up and contact between Morgan and Searfoss on the third lap forced both drivers to the rear of the field for the restart. In the meantime, Lowe encountered problems and was forced to retire from the event which gave Wink the race lead over Oltra, Mall Schlenker, Keith Frankenfield and Joey Barbush.

Green flag racing resumed and Searfoss got into Morgan as the duo entered turn one. Not happy, both drivers restarted from the rear of the field again before the real show started.

Oltra overtook Wink for the lead with a lap five pass. Morgan shot by Schlenker and into the third spot two laps later. He got by Wink for the runner up spot with eight laps remaining before overtaking Oltra with six to go.

The victory was Morgan’s second-straight, as he crossed the finish line over Oltra, Wink, Searfoss and Schlenker.

Heat race wins went to Jeff Searfoss and Wayne Lowe. Oltra picked up $50 when his finishing position was pulled in victory lane for the Sundance Vacations Contingency Program.

Mark Janisch was on hand to run laps at intermission with his Wingless Micro Sprint and many fans received carrying bags, which were courtesy of Roger’s Performance.

I made a little boo boo and have corrected it on the site. Lorin Arthofer was a winner of one of the Late Model heat races and Austin K. finished in second. Sorry about that:wave:
