With less than a week remaining before the Tour Type Modified stock cars converge on Wall Stadium for “Twin 50” lap main events on Saturday night May 8, promoter Jim Morton says several more drivers have confirmed that they will be on hand to compete. Plans call for grandstand seating to open at 4:00 p.m. that afternoon, with qualifying beginning at 5:45 p.m. and feature racing set to start at 6:45 p.m.

New Hampshire favorite Les Hinckley, at the wheel of the Atlantic Sprinkler No. 06, is one of the more recent competitors to speak with Morton. Also adding their names to the roster are Freehold’s Steven Reed in his No. 55, Tommy Farrell of Neptune in the Jeff Willett No. 08, Brick’s Marc Rogers in the Blauvelt Builders No. 41 and Flemington’s Andy Walko in his No. 27.

Pennsylvania favorites Jim Zacharias in his No. 39 and Todd Baer in his No. 41 have also told Morton that they will compete, as have Jackson’s Kevin Flockhart in the No. 00, Shrewsbury’s Dave Cranmer in his No. 59 and Rich Parker who campaigns the No. 7.

These drivers join the previously announced Tim Arre of Toms River, Jamie Tomaino of Howell, Pete Brittain of Oakhurst, Tony Ferrante, Jr. of Franklin Square, N.Y., Anthony Sesely of Matawan and Earl Paules and John Markovic, both representing the Keystone State.

Morton says that he still has more telephone calls from Modified drivers to return.

“I am really looking forward to May 8,” Morton said. “We are going to have a great field of quality cars. I have been talking to the drivers personally and every driver that has confirmed thus far has spoken directly to me.”

In addition to the Tour Type Modifieds, the track’s Sportsman, Street Stock and Legend Cars divisions will compete in 25-lap main events, while the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will race in a 20-lapper. Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on May 8, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The regular practice session will be up next, while grandstand seating will open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. and main event action is set for 6:45 p.m.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
