muffler rule

how strict are they on the "every car must have a muffler rule" . I usually run a cherry bomb but can't get the right parts in time for saturday for my crown vic. Will I get DQed if I cut the muffler off but leave the cats on? thanks

The muffler rule,I believe, is a rule to keep the town locals happy with the noise level..I think.
But..either way,.first off,you'd have to be 'tech'd after the race (finish in the top five) to be inspected. The don't normally look under the cars for a muffler,but being it's a rule,I guess
everything's possible. For addt'l performance,you should gut out the cats...but the negative is the car will probably be even more louder...but quicker.
