Pasteryak Celebrates First Win

Once again fans were treated to some of the best racing that our high-bank track can provide. From the heat race challenges leading up to action packed features that left both competitors and fans knowing that some drama may have only started.

This week saw the debut of the New England Truck Series. Many of these trucks have been here before, yet some who have never been here found the challenge of getting the handle on this track can be quite tricky.

The Modified Series was joined by some of the current Whelen Modified Series drivers preparing for their July 17, 2010 200 Lap feature event. It was evident that this up and coming event will be a night to remember. If you are a true race fan mark this date on your calendar.

Feature events began with the Young Guns. First time driver for this year Felicia Lambert gave a heart stopping performance when her car banked off the turn four wall and cut between the leaders. Lambert got her car stopped in the infield bringing out the red flag. Safety crews were to her quickly and she exited the car unhurt, but the car was unable to continue due to damage. Joe Boivin would get his second victory for this season followed by newcomer Adam Manley and Cassie Betourney for third place.

Twenty Five laps was the distance for the Mini Stocks and Beth Adams would start from the pole. Beth had an awesome run taking off and stretching out a 1/2 track lead from the second place car at the time Tim Jackson. But on lap nine Adams would bring out the caution when her engine seemed to fail. Jackson would assume the lead and upon the restart when veteran driver Joey Kendall's car would pop and then stop. Kendall would be pushed into the pits unable to return. Jackson would open up his lead as the battle for second place between Kim Revit and Eric Dejackome developed. On Lap #13 these two would literally get together in turn 4 and slide down the front stretch wall coming to rest near the entrance to pit road. After many laps under caution the cars were separated. The final 12 laps would finish caution free as Jackson would take his second win of this season followed by Chris Mctaggart and then Chris Davis for third.

Long time Truck Series star Andy Lindeman would try and start the feature with his own truck. But when the truck would not fire it was pushed back into the pits and he would jump into a borrowed ride from the #14 staff. In lap one the #85 truck shut down which would send it and its driver Greg Butler Jr. to watch from the infield. On lap seven Gee Perry takes the lead but on lap fifteen his truck suddenly began to smoke and then the engine would expire bring out a caution for fluid on the track. John St. Germain would go on to victory lane followed by Lindeman and newcomer to the trucks, but no stranger to Monadnock, Craig Cashman.

Super Stocks would have their turn next. The racing was intense throughout the feature, but caution one would be at lap ten when Andy Brooks Jr and Nick Gravel wrecked in turn 4. Gravel would be able to continue, but Brooks would be towed from the track with heavy damage. The second caution was waived when Ken Springer would send his car spinning on the backstretch. Eddie Brehio III would win his first feature of the season, while John Lavoie picked up second and Kevin Oulette came in third.
Modifieds would take to the track for their show stopping race. On lap eleven the caution flew when the 84 driven by Brandy Tree got some help spining in turn 4 which also collected the 96 of Butch Perry and slamming down the brakes was the 88 of Jim Boniface. The final thirty eight laps were caution free and the race was won by Chris Pastryak followed by Rob Goodenough and third went to Todd Patanode. The series keeps growing and had 25 cars signed to place tonight. More excitement builds each time these mighty modifieds take to the track

Full Size Enduros would be known as the "tire night". Lap three was the first red flag displayed when the 54 of Bucky Sheets loses a left rear getting together with the 47 of Scott Geuring. Second red flies when two more cars get together and a tire was lost on the 93 of Dan Stoodley. Lap twenty four another red flag was displayed when Ray Winchester and Ed Lafond get together. Lap thirty two saw the 16 of Duane Stoiner have a right front wheel and tire come off. The 3x of Dan Yagmin would see a back to back victory for the second week.

Next week racing at the highbanks will have Nema Midgets and Nema Lights joining our OutLaw Pro, Sportsman Modified, Super Street, Mini Stocks and a 4 cylinder Enduro. This Memorial Day will be one for the records. For more information log onto www.monadnockspeedway.com (http://www.monadnockspeedway.com).
