MAIN EVENTS GET GREEN FLAG AT 6:45 P.M.

Wall Stadium, the home of auto racing at the New Jersey Shore, will celebrate the unofficial beginning of summer with the traditional running of the Memorial Day weekend “Twin 35” lap feature races for Modified stock car this Saturday night (May 29). In addition, Sportsman racers, Street Stocks and Legend Cars will compete in 25-lap feature races, while the Factory Stocks cap off the evening in a 20-lap main event. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and main event racing scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

Although defending Supreme Manufacturing Modified champion Chas Okerson of Freehold, who is also a multi-time Pro Stock champion at the stadium, is currently at the top of his game, he will have plenty of competition in his quest for Modified 40-lap glory and a second straight crown. Two-time early season winner Anthony Sesely of Matawan, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Tim Arre of Toms River, Freehold’s Steven Reed, Farmingdale’s Billy Cole and David Reinhardt of Neptune City are just a few of the area’s standout Modified drivers expected to go for victory and the season-long driving title.

While 2009 champion Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck will lead the Sportsman field in Saturday’s companion 25-lapper, standouts Robert Sutphin of Brick, Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Kevin Davison of Howell and 2009 “Rookie of the Year” Andrew Krause of East Brunswick will be among those offering competition.

In the INEX Legend Cars ranks, Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach will attempt to become the division’s first ever driver to win five straight 25-lappers at the speedway, while point leader Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y. attempts to stretch his slim advantage in the Street Stock 25-lapper. Rob Longo of Wall, the track’s first ever Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock driving champ, will be going after his third win of the young season in the 20-lapper this Saturday night.

The current schedule for the May 29 card will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m., with a paid testing session for competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. The regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 3:30 p.m., while spectator seating will open for the first time this season at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying will start at 5:45 p.m. before main events roll out onto the track at 6:45 p.m.

On Sunday, the fifth mile paved “inner oval” continues the 2010 “Sunday Series” featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend Cars, Bandoleros and Micro Stocks starting at noon. For more information call 732-681-6400 or visit http://www.wallsundayseries.com.
