Stock car drivers in the Sportsman division will be in the spotlight this Saturday night (June 19) at Wall Stadium as promoter Jim Morton presents the annual 50-lap championship race for the highly popular division. Plans call for grandstand seating to open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying beginning at 5:45 p.m. and feature racing set to start at 6:45 p.m.

Defending Sportsman division driving champion Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck will be one of the favorites for the important win, as will be last Saturday’s main event winner Charlie Kremer III of Toms River. Other early season main event winners Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Kevin Davison of Howell and Brick’s Robert Sutphin will also be in contention for the victory.

In addition to the Sportsman racers, the Supreme Manufacturing Modifieds are slated for a 40-lap main event, the Street Stock and Legend Cars divisions will compete in 25-lap main events and the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will race in a 20-lapper.

Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on June 19, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The regular practice session will be up next, while grandstand seating will open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. and main event action is set for 6:45 p.m.

On Father’s Day Sunday (June 20), the fifth mile paved “inner oval” continues the 2010 “Sunday Series” featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend Cars, Bandoleros and Micro Stocks starting at noon. With a large contingent of racers from Long Island, N.Y. expected to be on hand, J.A. Neary Excavating, a backhoe service and trucking company based in Middlesex, N.J., will honor the first three finishers in all karting divisions with trophies. Jeffrey Neary, the president of the company, is responsible for the sponsorship. For more “Sunday Series” information call 732-681-6400 or visit http://www.wallsundayseries.com.
