View Full Version : Riverhead purse

From what I see, the purse at Riverhead is the same as last year.

So to all drivers out there, please note that we have been working hard to raise the extra 10,500 dollars.

Before the race, a group of us will be walking around handing out 300 to each driver who qualifies. It's our way of letting you guys know how much we appreciate you coming to Riverhead. Just call us your sponsor for the day.

After the race, we will be giving the winner 2100. So wtih the purse of 2600 plus the 300 plus the 2100 , the winner of the race will get 5000.

To anyone who has pledged money ( or anyone who still wants to) try to do it as soon as possible. I want to hand out something to all drivers at Monadnock that shows exactly what we have been able to do. Tow money for drivers who don't qualify is a long shot. Unless I suddenly get a huge amount of donations to the cause. So if there's anyone out there who can afford 20 bucks or 200 or 2000 let me know. Remember this is a Paypal link that so far has raised us 200 bucks. Hoping for some more in these last few weeks.

The payout for Riverhead with all our bonus money contributed by Modifed fans looks like this:

1- 5000 9- 1275 17- 825 25- 600
2- 2200 10- 1250 18- 800 26- 600
3- 1900 11- 1225 19- 775 27- 600
4- 1700 12- 1100 20- 725 28- 600
5- 1600 13- 1000 21- 700
6- 1500 14- 950 22- 650
7- 1350 15- 900 23- 627

If anyone still wants to help, we are still looking for some tow money. Riverhead usually gets around 35 cars, so that means about 7 guys go home with nothing. If you are a fan of modified racing and can help out please let me know. There is a PayPal link at the top of this post and you can also see me by the 8x after the 77 lap race at Riverhead.

Just want you to know that two of the people are from Connecticut and one from NJ. Not sure where Steve is from. I really appreciate what these people have done.

If anyone would still like to contribute, it's not too late. We are still looking to give money to the drivers who don't qualify.

For those planning on getting to Riverhead early, here's what I've seen about the schedule for the tour race. So if I'm picking you up at the Orient Point Fery, you have to be on the 11 am boat, nothing later!!!!

2-3 practice

430 - qualifying

600- 25 lap race

700 - autographs

830 - Riverhead 200

So let me get this straight, you are raising money for the drivers, you contributed money and you are picking up people at the ferry to bring them to the track? You are the man!

Wow ! So cool to think we have someone from the state of Washington supporting the Riverhead Tour Race.

When you decide to travel back east and take in a tour race at Riverhead, the race is on me!

The power of PayPal too. I know I did the PayPal for the Richie Evans/ Steven Park / Tommy Baldwin car. Modern technology at its finest.

Thanks again Steve and be looking for those live updates from Riverhead Raceway.

4 true troyers, 1 spafco ? (was told that this chassis was a mike stefanik tour chassis in 96)and 8 troyer clipped northwest built chassis that my father and uncle built based on troyer designs are in the northwest.

most of the active cars are latemodel chassis switched over to open wheel. lefthander, howe, dillon, etc.

And now all the way from Michigan we have Liquid Bread donating $100 to the Riverhead tour race. Sine we now have gone over our goal of 10,500 at least one driver who doesn't qualify for the race will be going home with some money. We'd like to raise enough so that all guys who don't qualify get something. If there should only be 28 cars attempting to qualify then any extra $ will be given to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

we now have $570 tow money. . not exactly sure how we wil spread this out to the drivers since we don't know how many cars will be there.

$11,070 raised/pledged so far!

You don't think the purses are too top-heavy already? In PA for the National Open a few years ago the fans ended up giving the first local non-qualifier something like $2,000.

That Chassis in question is NOT a spafco chassis, it is in fact a Stefanik original!! It was purchased from Peter Beal late of '07 early '08, this is in fact one of the Burnham Championship cars from that era.

Bruton Smith put that together. Not NASCAR.

Doesn't Bruton own the company that builds and sells Legends cars? There are also hundreds (thousands?) of Legends cars around the country and overseas. Modifieds, not so much. I understand the Legends cars are very popular in Europe, Great Britain and France especially. Seems like I read somewhere that this was a marketing thing to promote and sell the cars down the road.

Yes, this was probably an infomercial as much as an enjoyable event. Somebody watching it, figures out that for about 10k, they could have a chance to race for a Million Dollars.

Having said that, Bruton does seem to get that the Modifieds, at least up North, are a very marketable division. Lets Give Mr Smith a chance to do something special for the Modifieds.
