I understand the money issues, but c'mon. If you have a ca,r bring it to the track to at least show you have an interest in the division and keeping it alive.
Some of you guys out there register a number every year and NEVER show. What's up with that? With one exception (18) what are you accomplishing?

10 cars this past week....... $hit we used to run 12 in a heat race.

Where are you:
Scott K
Ken M
Lenny P
Chuck D
Sean C
Jrod (yeah I know, 2 weeks)
Bob B
and the list goes on..

If it wasn't for the true supporters of the division, guys like (see below) we would be in trouble
00 Mike B
4 Mike M
68 Buzz
23 Kevin
1 Artie
88 Shawn
35 Kenny
7 Chris
30 Daryn
97 Ralph
5 Jeremey (thanks Jimmy John)
01 Rob (visit more often)
3 Doug R (even you)
If you need some decent used tires to get yourselfs out there, I myself would be more then willing to help you out.
Let's go racing while we still can.
Remember, you're going to be dead along time. Have some fun while you can

if anyone has a back-up car i am more than willing to get in it and to step up into the late models. I am a quick learner and my dad is more than capable of maintaining the car, we just dont have the money to buy one. If anyone is interested come down to the #92 grand enduro trailer on saturday.

thank you, Jimmy Denis

If anyone has a car I would be more then happy to run a start and park deal. I have raced a blunderbust a couple times, I practiced a Super Pro Truck for Rich Giordano, and I have about 4 years of go-carts under my built.

I wish I still had a car to help support the Late Models. I would hate to see this great division get dropped due to a lack of cars.

GS, there are plenty of cars out there that can be had, including your old car. Get on the stick and c'mon back

Lugs, I believe you'll see the 72 show up for a show or two (most likely the two 50's coming up)

11 Late Models on a weekely basis at Mountain (Sundance) and 3 of them are from the Island

The economy is hurting all of the tracks. It seems like the only track with decent counts in all of the divisions is Stafford.

I herd mountain brings from 13 to 17 cars every other week

DriveitinDeep
07-09-2010, 02:44 PM
if you check the points out in the LM class at Mountain, you will see that only 11 cars are there every week and they get a increase in cars occasionally just like RR does

I was at Mahoming Valley Speedway two weeks ago about an hour below mountain and they only had 4 late models, talk about boring so Riverhead is'nt that too bad all things considered! But like riverhead they too have too many divisions, mods, lm, street stock, pro four, dirt mods.

Golf Guy

Mountain has averaged 13.875 LM's per race for 8 races with 8 cars making every race and a high car count of 15.

Riverhead has average 11.42 LM's per race for 7 races with 7 cars making every race and a high car count of 13

and like Roger Oxee has pointed out, 3 Long Island cars have raced semi regularly at Mountain, we unfortuanately have no out of state cars.

Economy can be to blame, but we need a more determined group here to show our staying power.

How's this concept sound. Have someone work out between Mountain and RVH an alternating schedule. Have a race there one week and a race at RVH the next. Maybe then you could have a better field of cars between the both tracks. Hate to say it being it would cost more for the teams to travel however it might work in an effort to save the division. Late models for years have always put on a great show. I am a mod fan however the late model guys usually put on one of the best shows week in and week out with an exception here and there.

The mountain cars arent going to spend 300 traveling AND race for $300+ less to win.

DriveitinDeep

JROD, now that the LM's have been bumped back a week, you'll be there with your car. Correct?

How about allowing straight rail cars to come and race with our late models that might get a few more cars to come or allow different late models with say different brakes or motors just adjust with adding weight to those cars just a suggestion

In the end changing the schedule is only going to do so much. Guys just don't have the disposable income to run a competitive car. I hate to keep beating a dead horse but the biggest problem is the economy, if I had the money I would certainly be racing something more than an enduro.

It also doesn't help having two divisions that are so similar, the chargers and late models. If the car counts don't improve over time Riverhead may want to consider eliminating one of those divisions, of course thats a worse case scenario.

I'd love to get back out with a LM. If anyone has a car just sitting and needs the dust blown off give me a shout. I'm usually helping RJ on Saturdays. If I mess it up I'll pay.

Long islanders racing at mountain weekly instead of riverhead? probably because of the bias of the officials at RR - no consistency

That's certainly part of it, I think it also has to do with the costs. That division knows how to tear up some racecars. Maybe it's a few bad apples spoiling the bunch but when you're strapped for cash it's tough to justify getting your car together and bringing it out to Riverhead to get torn apart again.

OK, so which car/s in the LM division are blessed to have the offficials on their side? I might see your point in another divinsion, but LM's?

for once i agree with GolfGuy-doubt there's bias-aint enough cars running to hide the bias:lol:

There's not enough cars to need bias.

the reasons some cars go to SVS is they are happy to see you and treat you with respect that has not been the case in the past at RR
money SVS pays $800 to win RR pays $475?
tires are less money and now with tire rule of only allowing you to buy 2 a week that will save money
rules very open any brakes, any chassis offset, motor set back allowed 2"
and for the cars that race for points they race every other week saving time and money
