The first half of the 2010 season is now history at the historic Spencer Speedway’s flat half mile oval in Upstate New York. So far six shows have been completed including a special RoC Modified Championship race.

The second half of the season is now upon us. It offers a number of special events, including three more “NASCAR Upstate New York Pro-Modified Series presented by Hoosier Tires of WNY and Sunoco Race Fuels” events.

This series has spike more interest in cooperating between the two NASCAR Upstate speedways. Buck Catalano leads the Challenge points having won all four shows run to date. The last show, at Holland on June 26, was rained out.

The Series now moves to Spencer on July 16 for 35-lap Sunoco Modified feature. The series returns to Holland on July 24 with its biggest event of the series, the 100-lap George Decker Memorial offering a purse of some $13,000. The series comes back the next week, July 31 to Holland for that track’s final series race.

The final two stops in the “NASCAR Upstate New York Pro-Modified Series presented by Hoosier Tires of WNY and Sunoco Race Fuels” happen at Spencer on August 6 (a 100-lapper) and August 27 (a 35-lapper).

But there is more then just a series ahead of the fans in the second half of the season at Spencer. Special appearances by the Legend cars, July 23 and August 13 will add to the regular nightly program of Sunoco Modifieds, Street Stocks, Super Sixes and 4-Cylinder Auto Value Scorpion races.

On July 23rd, fans will have a chance to see the Ryan Newman Tornado’s sponsored Sprint Cup car, along with sampling the new southwestern Tornado products. There are a number of free offering from Tornado’s that night.

The 2010 season is scheduled to come to an end on September 3 with a 100-lap RoC Modified special. It will be the 499 Modified feature run in the track’s history. That show will also feature all four regular nightly divisions.

Following the Independence Day weekend, NASCAR Stock Car racing returns to Spencer on Friday, July 9th when a special Twin-25-lap program for the Sunoco Modified takes on the fast oval. Backing the modifieds up will be a complete program of Street Stocks, Super Sixes and Auto Value Scorpion races. Heat races begin at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
