You would think there is someone out there, who despite the low payout for this race, might just think the same as us Teddy. Wouldn't this be a great way to honor Reggie and give him a ride for this race?

you'd see a guy like Kirk get a ride for this race before Reggie would

Kirk and Reggie would both bring in more people to the race.

Anyone remember Reggie in the Gary Cretty 26 "Cadillac" modified? That would be cool!

I'm surprised Chris Pastryak is not racing his own car. He has ran his car on the tour this year so he has everything he needs and has had success at the Modadnock in the past

If 28 cars start and they all qualify, do they have to run the 25 lap heat race? Is there any way they would just make it a 200 lap race?

I thought the heat races determined starting positions for the feature?
(Yes I did miss something....thought it was a flash type where times determined heat start and heat finished determined feature start...)

16 cars thru time

7 from the qualifying race

5 provisional

I love the idea of heat races, but to make them all time trial and then put out 11 of them to run 25 laps, where 7 qualify....

Do the guys who run the heat race get an extra tire, or do they have to run the feature having already run 25 laps?

since when were heat races bad? seems like a good qualifying setup to me. i bet a few more cars will show up that aren't listed yet. don't know the tire deal, but if you want to have less wear, qualify in the top 16. it's an advantage for the teams that perform better, isn't it? if you need the b main, you deal with the hand you get.

At Riverhead last year if I am not mistaken they gave the cars that ran the Consi, Heat or Qualifiers race(whatever you want to call it) ONE new tire after the 25 lap race.

Maybe they should just run time trials and declare the race winner on fast time. I've never seen a division so afraid to race their cars in my life. If you can't run a heat race, maybe it's time for a new hobby.

Don't get me wrong. I love heat races . I prefer heat races. But if you are going to run time trials and take all but 12 cars, what's the purpose of a heat race? If it's to set their starting positions you can just as easily use the results from time trials.

If I'm not mistaken, the MRS runs a consi if needed. It's not always needed. Sometimes they do away with it if there's not enough cars to warrant having one.

I didn't mean this to be a time trials vs heat race discussion. We've done that over and over before. Nascar isn't going to change that. But when you don't have a full field of cars I was just curious as to whether the heat race might be tossed aside. And if it were eliminated, would they increase the number of laps in the feature?

Hopefully, there will be a few late additions and the heat race will take on some importance.

Hoping for good weather! And a suprise appearance of the REG!!!

You could also ask...Why have time trials, just use point standings to set the field. Of course

the purpose of heats is to entertain the fans. The purpose of time trials is to "entertain" the car

owners. As long as the Cup mentality dominates NASCAR racing, your going to find yourself

asking these kinds of questions. The MRS formula is simple and it works.
