Mahoning Valley Speedway Resets Poker Series 100 Lapper to July 24

(LEHIGHTON, PA 7-12-10) Mahoning Valley Speedway has made a change to the Hand Two 7 Card Stud Modified 100 race that was slated for July 17 as it is now going to be held on Saturday evening, July 24.

The race was rained out on July 10 and track officials then set this coming Saturday, July 17 as the make-up.

However, after a closer review of schedules of other tracks and series’ from throughout the region, it was decided that July 24 would best suit this high dollar event in regards to fans and drivers.

When the special five race Poker Series events were inked into this year’s Mahoning schedule, it was done in a way that no major conflicts with other asphalt tracks would occur. With consideration of schedules to those tracks as well as driver commitments, it was best deemed to now stage the 100-lap show on the night of July 24.

Race time is 6:00 pm. Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods and Pro4 Late Models will be running regular feature that night.

The Mahoning Valley Speedway 7 Card Stud is a unique promotion of five 100-lap, $3000-to-win Modified races. At the conclusion of each race drivers receive a card starting with and Ace going to the winner and then King, Queen, Jack and so on to the deuce.

At the end of the series the top three drivers with the best poker hand will then share in a $5000 jackpot with $2500, $1500 and $1000 respectively. Brian DeFebo was the 2009 Poker Series champ. Runner-up was Earl Paules with Matt Hirschman third best.

In addition there are also two regular 35-lap features that drivers may also gain cards to use in their hand.

Thus far Bobby Jones leads the 2010 series with and Ace of Diamonds thanks to his winning of Hand One on June 12.

This coming Saturday night will now be a regular show for all track classes, Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods and Pro4 Late Models.

The first 250 adults at the grandstand gate will receive a free ticket to Pocono Raceway for the July 31 Pocono Mountains 125 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race as well as the Weis Markets 125 ARCA Series race.

Mahoning Valley Speedway, run under the direction of the husband and wife team of Doug and Gena Hoffman, is located on PA route 443, two miles west of Lehighton.

What will happen to the regular show that was scheduled for that night ( I think it was a regular lap feature but counted to the 7 races included in the poker hand)
