A good reminder, courtesy of Shawn Courchesne, about the upcoming Whelen Modified Tour televisions broadcasts ...

http://blogs.courant.com/autoracing/2010/07/lime-rock-park-whelen-modified.html

In addition to the Lime Rock 100, we're excited that the entire second half of the Whelen Modified Tour season will be televised. Hope you all tune in!

As included in another thread, here is the reminder about the VERSUS schedule ... http://hometracks.nascar.com/press_release/Whelen_Modified_Telecasts_Set_To_Begin_On_VERSUS

Thanks for the offer Magicshoes12, I only had slight interest in roadcourse racing. You can be sure that the dvr will be programed early for Riverhead.

actually the coverage was good except the pass for the lead for the win as Santos III was putting on a smoke parade, think he killed all bug around. The announcers on Speed's Rick Allen and Phil Parsons did a great job with the last names, which has always been a problem!

yea phil said they have in the passed and also said they did the road course at daytona which i have never heard of ...it was good coverage but the only thing i would like to see differently is hearing the cars....it seemed like the track was muted and you could hear only the announcers, just quiet i guess lol

Many moons ago, Howie posted some pics of the mods at a road race in Daytone. It was in the mid 70's I think.

This is probably at least part of the reason the modifieds haven't been back to Dover since 1970. http://www.vintagemodifieds.com/charlie_jarzombek/in_this_famous_dave_innes_photo.htm

I have a few of Mike Adaskaveg's photos of the modifieds when they ran Daytona on the road course in the 70s. (Super Speedway modifieds looking more like early prostocks and Jack Duffy's coupe) I just have no idea where they might be right now. Here is a good article with some of the Daytona modified history. http://www.nationalspeedsportnews.com/node.php?id=537

Howie, you amaze me, someone asks a question and you know the answer, finds an article on it and have pictures to show it. How can you remember all these things. I really appreciate all you do for modified racing. Thanks Howie
