St. Johns, PA- More than just being popular with tourists and as a weekend getaway for city folks, the New Jersey shore and the Pocono Mountain region of northeast Pennsylvania will have another exciting trait in common this fall, and this one will be especially appealing to race fans of open wheel Modified racing. After working together on qualifying events in 2009, race promoter Jim Morton of N.J.'s Wall Stadium, and promoter Joe Callavini of Sundance Vacations Speedway in PA, have once again agreed to share qualifying races for blockbuster year-ending events in 2010.

This year marks the 11th year that the "King Of The Mountain" championship weekend at Sundance Vacations Speedway located in St. Johns, PA (just north of Hazleton) will take place on Saturday/Sunday, October 9-10, at the popular 1/3 mile oval. This prestigious event has seen many race teams from surrounding states, compete to claim victory and wear the coveted crown. For the 11th anniversary, SVS promoter Joe Callavini has spared no expense and with extra distance/extra money events for all race divisions, any cars fitting the rules are welcome to compete. The KOTM weekend is headlined by the 150 lap, $5000 to win event for the Tour Type Modifieds on Sunday, October 10.

A Thanksgiving tradition that has become a ritual for race fans and racers across the northeast, Turkey Derby XXXVII is set to go green on Friday/Saturday, November 26-27, at the historic, high banked 1/3 mile Jersey shore oval located on route 34 in Wall, New Jersey. This event has grown enormously under the direction of Wall promoter Jim Morton, and all indications are that this year's event could be the largest to date. The Mighty 600 horsepower Tour Type Modifieds will also headline Turkey Derby XXXVII, with a 150-lap event on Saturday, November 27. With a purse that is yet to be determined, this year's Turkey Derby champion will surely be taking home a huge top prize, for their winning efforts.

With twin 50-lap Modified main events scheduled at Wall Stadium on August 7, an agreement was reached to give the winner of the second 50-lap feature race, a guaranteed starting position in the season ending 150-lap "King Of The Mountain" event at Sundance. In return, the winner of the 11th annual "King Of The Mountain" 150-lapper, will earn a guaranteed starting spot in the prestigious Turkey Derby XXXVII event at Wall Stadium in November.

This should make the decision for race teams looking to run both events, a little easier to determine there racing schedules for the remainder of the 2010 season. These will surely be two "Do Not Miss" events on your fall racing calendars!
