Wall Stadium promoter Jim Morton says that he is looking forward to hosting an impressive field of Touring Modified stock cars when his third mile paved oval hosts “Twin 50” lap main events this Saturday night, August 7. Plans call for grandstand seating to open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying beginning at 6:30 p.m. and feature racing set to start at 7:30 p.m.

Former speedway driving champion “Pistol Pete” Brittain of Allentown will be the man to beat as he swept both feature races in the season’s first Touring Modifieds “Twin 50” lap races back on May 8. On June 12 Tommy Farrell of Neptune and Steven Reed of Freehold were Touring Modified winners. Both Farrell’s No. 08 and the Reed Family Racing No. 55 are expected to be at the track Saturday. Farrell says that he will be back after sitting out with a rib injury. Reed suffered a broken wrist last Saturday so the driver of the No. 55 has yet to be determined. Howell’s Jamie Tomaino and Jackson’s Kevin Flockhart are also among those expected to compete.

Along with big prize money, the racers will also be battling for guaranteed starting spots in important fall races. The winner of the first 50-lapper will earn a spot in the annual “North South Shootout” at the Concord Motorsports Park in North Carolina, while the winner of the second main event gets a spot in the “King of the Mountain” main event at the Sundance Vacations Speedway in Pennsylvania.

In addition to the Touring Modifieds, the track’s Sportsman, Street Stock and Legend Cars divisions will compete in 25-lap main events, while the Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stocks will race in a 20-lapper. The track’s Supreme Manufacturing Modified will have the night off, although they are welcome to attempt to qualify for the Touring Modified events.

Pit gates will open at 12:30 p.m. on August 7, with a paid practice session set from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The regular practice session will be up next, while grandstand seating will open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying is set for 6:30 p.m. and main event action is set for 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, the fifth mile paved “inner oval” continues the 2010 “Sunday Series” featuring Go Karts, wingless Midgets, Legend Cars and Micro Stocks starting at noon. For more information call 732-681-6400 or visit http://www.wallsundayseries.com.
