Double-File Restart Rule means anything can happen.

It all comes down to this Saturday night at Bowman Gray Stadium. Only 150 laps are left until the 2010 champion for the Bill Plemmons RV World Modified Series is crowned.

For this first time ever: the season-ending Carolina Farm Credit 150 will utilize the infamous double-file restart rule. In addition to each race being worth double the normal points, now Modified contenders will have plenty of opportunities to challenge from the outside row.

If there’s one thing Stadium fans know – it’s that anything can happen on that final night. What are the chances of Burt Myers of Walnut Cove claiming his fourth championship? Will Brian Loftin of Lexington come from behind to take over the title for himself? What’s going on with Defending Champion Tim Brown of Cana , VA ? Will Junior Miller of Danbury or Jonathan Brown of Winston-Salem put the damper on Burt Myers’ championship hopes as they fight for the final checkered flag of the season? Stadium racing fans had the chance to chime in and share their opinions about the fireworks that could occur on that final night.

“I think Burt stands a good chance of winning the championship as long as Jonathan Brown and Junior Miller don’t get around him,” said Mitch from Arcadia. Mitch feels that if Myers is involved in any confrontation, the door will be swung wide open for Brian Loftin to grab the championship. “Brian may have a chance. I know Brian has the talent and the equipment to win the championship. He’s got a good shot at it if he runs the way he’s been running,” said Mitch.

“Junior’s said that no Myers will win the championship as long as he’s there, so anything can happen,” said Charles of Winston-Salem. “He’s taken out grudges before, hasn’t he? I rest my case.”

“Junior’s probably going to cause havoc. I’m pretty sure,” said Jason of Danbury.

“I hope Burt’s chances of winning the championship are zilch, zero, none. I hope somebody does take him out,” said Justin of Mount Airy. Yet Justin will concede that Burt Myers’ career has a promising future. “I hate to say this, but Burt’s actually a good driver,” said Justin.

“I think Burt has a good chance of taking the championship,” said James from Winston-Salem . “Right now, he’s the best there is at Bowman Gray.”

“Burt will never be at the level that Junior Miller is at,” said Heather of Sandy Ridge. “Junior isn’t old, he isn’t going to retire - they just wish that he’d retire.”

Susan of Siloam thinks that the real king of Bowman Gray Stadium is Tim Brown. “I think this is his house just like he says,” said Susan. “He’s still young enough to break all the records for most wins, most championships - everything,” said Susan. “He’s just had a little bad luck this season.”

Derrick of Westfield feels differently. “Finally, nobody’s taking Tim Brown’s junk. They’re giving it to him like they’re supposed to. He’s just scared,” said Derrick.

But entering this Saturday night, Heather of Sandy Ridge put it best: “I think it will be a very interesting final race in the season. You won’t want to miss it.”

Brian Loftin trails Burt Myers by 56 points, so Loftin would need to finish 15 positions ahead of Myers to claim the title on Saturday. Lee Jeffreys of Winston-Salem sits in third in the points, 15 points behind Loftin.

In the Webb Heating & A/C Co. Sportsman Series, Kyle Edwards of King sits on top of the points ladder with brother Barry Edwards of Pinnacle in second – only 34 points behind Kyle. Ryan Robertson of Winston-Salem enters this Saturday with a third place ranking in the points standings, currently five points behind Barry Edwards.

Matt Cotner of Rural Hall had good luck on Saturday in the 104.1 WTQR Street Stock Series, while many of his points challengers ran into misfortune. Billy Gregg of Winston-Salem , Reggie Doub of Germanton, and John McNeal of Winston-Salem were each involved in separate wrecks on Saturday – hurting them severely in the points battle. Meanwhile, Cotner finished third.

Cotner leads the points with Gregg in second, 72 points behind Cotner. Doub drops to fifth, McNeal drops to sixth, and Zack Clifton of Walkertown moves up to third in the points as a result of their bad luck.

In the Time Warner Cable Stadium Stock Series, Jason Keaton of Mocksville leads the way in the points, with Defending Champion Dale Barneycastle of Mocksville ranked second. Barneycastle is a mere 22 points behind Keaton, with Jimmy Absher of Rural Hall in third – only six points behind Barneycastle.

This Saturday, the Modifieds will compete in the Carolina Farm Credit 150, plus there will be racing for the Sportsman, Street Stock, and Stadium Stock Divisions. All the champions will be crowned after one final race for each division.

Gates open at 6:00 for practice, qualifying begins at 7:10, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be found online at www.bowmangrayracing.com (http://www.bowmangrayracing.com) or by calling (336) 723-1819.
