MAIN EVENTS GET GREEN FLAG AT 7:30 P.M.

Although the 2010 stock car racing regular season will continue through September at Wall Stadium, five divisions of stock cars are ready to race on Saturday night (Sept. 4) to mark Labor Day weekend and the unofficial close of summer at the Jersey Shore. Spectator seating is slated to open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 6:30 p.m. and main event action slated for 7:30 p.m.

After several weeks of offering the popular format, Wall Stadium will again present “Twin 20’s” for the Supreme Manufacturing Modified stock cars this Saturday night. In addition, Sportsman racers, Street Stocks and Legend Cars will compete in 25-lap feature races, while the Factory Stocks cap off the evening in a 20-lap main event.

Although defending Supreme Manufacturing Modified champion Chas Okerson of Freehold is currently at the top of his game, he will have plenty of competition in his quest for Modified “Twin 20” glory and a second straight crown. Freehold’s Steve Reed and Shaun Carrig of Little Falls were winners in last Saturday evening’s “Twin 20’s” action, but competition will also come from Roger Coss of Lafayette, Tim Arre of Toms River, Farmingdale’s Billy Cole and David Reinhardt of Neptune City, just to name a few.

While 2009 champion Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck will lead the Sportsman field in Saturday’s companion 25-lapper, standouts Robert Sutphin of Brick, Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Eric Mauriello of Howell, 2009 “Rookie of the Year” Andrew Krause of Holmdel and last week’s winner Kevin Davison of Howell will be among those offering competition.

In the INEX Legend Cars ranks, Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach is sure to be at the front of the pack, while point leader Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood attempts to stretch his slim advantage in the Street Stock 25-lapper. Rob Longo of Wall, the track’s first ever Flanagan Retail Development Factory Stock driving champ and current point leader, will be going after his fifth win of the season in the 20-lapper this Saturday night.

The current schedule for the September 4 card will see the competitor pit area open at 2:30 p.m.; with the regular afternoon practice session set to begin at 4:00 p.m. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m. and qualifying will start at 6:30 p.m. before main events roll out onto the track at 7:30 p.m.

Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway office is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and all day Saturday during events. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while more information is also available at www.wallspeedway.com (http://www.wallspeedway.com).
