St. Johns, Pa- Zane Zeiner of Bath started twelfth in the Sport Modified feature Sunday at Sundance Vacations Speedway. Without wasting time in the caution filled event, Zeiner overtook both Anthony Sesely and Earl Paules to take him his first $1000 win of the season in the division. Justin Onderko patiently ran in the third spot for much of the Late Model feature. That all changed when the leaders tangled. With the race lead in hand, Onderko, of Lancaster drove away from the rest of the pack to extend his points lead with his second straight $800 win of the season. Following two weeks of rebuilding his car from its last outing, Brandon Oltra of Alden held off charges from the competition to take his second Factory Stock victory of the season and Matt Janisch finally got the monkey off his back, as he took top honors in the TQ Midget main event.

Nick Pecko led twenty other hungry competitors to the drop of the green flag in the 40-lap Modified main event. Without a single lap complete, Dave Reinhardt and Bobby Geibel tangled in turns one and two. Harry Schaefer and Joe Schmutz slid into the mix as well. A second restart failed and then the third lap zero yellow flew when Jerry Hildebrand, who was running second, got turned into Jason Hearne. Both drivers had to restart from the tail end of the field.

Despite the slow going early on, Pecko led the opening laps over Geary Rinehimer, Earl Paules, Anthony Sesely and Adam Lacicero. Sesely got by Rinehimer and moved to second on lap two and Paules followed through for third.

Paules overtook the leader on the third lap and Sesely followed through.

The yellow was brought back out when Lacicero was forced into the front stretch wall on lap four following a solid performance.

Green flag racing resumed and it became evident that Zane Zeiner has a fast racecar. After starting twelfth, Zeiner got by Pecko for fifth and then overtook Rinehimer for the fourth spot. He ran third behind Paules and Sesely on lap 12. Just behind Zeiner, Ricky Ross, Jr. held the fourth spot, followed by Hearne, who had worked his way back up through the field.

Zeiner went to work and overtook Sesely for second on lap 21. He spent the next 10 laps trying to find a way around Paules, who was not planning on giving up easily. Zeiner dove to the bottom of the leader in turn one on lap 31 and just had enough to pull off of turn two with the race lead.

Paules’ car began to fall off over the closing laps.

Zeiner went on to take the victory over Sesely, Ross, Hearne and Barry Callavini, who ended up with a great finish despite troubles that he had in both the heat and consi races.

During his victory lane interview, Zeiner thanked Ricky Ross, Jr. for giving him a brake rotor earlier in the day, which in turn helped him get to victory lane.

Jason Hearne, Ricky Ross, Jr. and Jerry Hildebrand were heat race winners. Will Schneider took the consi victory.

Kyle Harvell started on the pole and led the opening circuit of the 30-lap Late Model feature. Lorin Arthofer ran second with Craig Lutz, Glenn Logan, Jr. and Mike Sweeney in tow.

Points leader Justin Onderko cracked the top five and got by Sweeney for fourth on lap nine. Just ahead, Lutz took the second spot from Arthofer. Onderko then moved by Arthofer to take third on lap 13.

With Harvell still out front, Lutz reeled in the leader. With Onderko patiently riding in third, Lutz put the pressure on the leader for several laps before applying too much pressure. Harvell spun out in turn two and both drivers had to start from the rear of the field in the lap 24 incident. The change of events moved Onderko to the point.

Untouchable over the closing laps, Onderko went on to take his second straight Late Model win of his career. Arthofer finished in the runner up spot, followed by Logan, Sweeney and Dave Macomber.

Kyle Harvell and Craig Lutz were heat race winners.

Kendall Foulk led a field of Factory Stock drivers to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap feature. Foulk got sideways in turn two and collected Paul Morgan, Jr. and Matt Schlenker. Meanwhile, Brandon Oltra took command of the event.

Following the quick yellow flag, Jeff Searfoss got by Joey Barbush to grab the second spot. Rich Paciotti ran in fourth at the time, followed by Eric Wink.

Morgan began to climb toward the top and moved into fifth on lap five. He grabbed fourth from Wink a lap later and then overtook Barbush for third on lap five.

While all of this was going on behind them, Searfoss pressured Oltra for the lead but the leader wanted none of it.

After practically rebuilding his entire car from a very rough feature two weeks prior, Oltra held on to take his second win of the season over Searfoss and Morgan. Quietly, Scott Adams finished fourth followed by Wink.

Heat race victories went to Brandon Oltra and Jeff Searfoss.

Robin Johnston started from the pole and appeared to have the quickest car ion the 25-lap TQ Midget feature. However, mechanical problems struck the leader on lap seven and matt Janisch became the leader.

Janisch, who’s had his share of mechanical problems set a quick pace and took the feature win over Ian Cumens, Jeff Kot, Paul Lotier, Jr. and Alison Cumens.

Heat race wins went to Robin Johnston and Austin Fehr.

Sponsored by Track Welder, Dan Drobnick, Kids Big Wheel races were held at intermission. The children received medals for their efforts, along with plenty of snacks and treats.

The Sundance Vacations Contingency winners were Earl Paules and Rich Paciotti.
