It's likely that a new name will emerge as the winner of the 100-lap Modified feature at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway's Fall Brawl season finale on Sunday, October 3. The Modifieds will be joined on Sunday by the ASA Late Models racing for 75 laps, plus the Super Stocks and Legends.

Saturday, October 2, the two-day event will kick off with the Sportsman Modifieds in a 75-lapper, plus the Street Stocks, Legends, and an All-Star Relay Race. Race time on on Sunday is 2:00 p.m., while Saturday's show goes under the lights at 6:00 p.m., followed by a giant pit party complete with the band "Iron Horse", a bonfire, and a pig roast.

In 2009, Rick Zacharias led all the laps under heavy pressure, but he has not raced since an early-season accident in 2010. R. Zacharias has made a full recovery, but he has been devoting his time to his son's budding racing career on the dirt tracks, while his seat in brother Terry's modified has been filled more than adequately by veteran J.R. Kent. In fact, Kent has been the hottest Modified driver at the track since taking over the Zacharias ride, now renumbered with Kent's traditional No. 16. His last three starts have produced two wins and a third place finish, with one of those wins coming in the prestigious 61-lap Richie Evans Memorial.

Invader T.J. Potrzebowski was second in a rare Shangri-La II appearance at the 2009 Fall Brawl, with J.R. Kent third in his own car, Daren Scherer fourth, and track champion John Markovic fifth. A strong contingent of outsiders is expected again in 2010 to challenge the Concrete Castle regulars including newly-crowned track champion Jimmy Zacharias, Jim Storace, Dean Rypkema, Scott Conover, T.J. Zacharias, and Ken Canestrari. The Modified winner will take home $4,000.

Fall Brawl grandstand admission is set at a very reasonable $12 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday for adults, with kids 10 years old and under free. A weekend grandstand ticket is available for $20. For more information, call 607-330-2622 or visit shangrila-2.com.
