So.. is it me or did somebody do a poor job at actually promoting / marketing these open comp shows – I mean, I consider myself in tune with what the hell is going on round these parts – but for each one of these (4) races I really wasn’t aware they were on tap until I find it on Shawn’s blog (while its in progress).. did I miss something, (it’s very possible) – but I don’t recall any press releases regarding these races..

What gives?

I do appreciate Thompson getting the results up on their site rather quickly…

.. and another thing – perhaps we could fire up a poll – from reading Shawn’s stuff – it sounds like Thompson is testing the waters / considering running their weekly shows on Sunday’s vs. Thursday nights.. I wonder what the masses here think?

i think Thompson needs to go to Saturdays, makes travel for everyone easier, i know i'd run a mini stock there if it was on Saturdays, hard to make a Thursday night show from VT or NH or even NY a lot....how would this effect the bowl though?? It'll be interesting what they decide. As far as the Tour-Type Shootout Races...the only press I saw was on their website and a couple of flyers thats all i ever saw.

Goldy, they did put out PR's for these races actually.

I guess I'm used to seeing stuff on the front page (spoiled or lazy in that regard) - and or I have to fish around a bit more.. but then again, if I didn't know it was on the calendar, how would I have known to look in the Local Racing section..

Calendar – now there’s an idea, somebody used to put together a pretty complete northeast racing calendar.. who was that? Here I am assuming there isn’t one already via some link I’m not seeing – but while I’ve made myself look silly and out of touch - but how about a 2011 TCH enhancement – NE Racing Calendar – one look, see all events? … or has that already been done?? Maybe leverage the built in Calendar above the list of Forums??

I suppose we should be chatting about this in the Local Racing section huh?

Goldy, the front page stuff is modified touring series news only. Beginning of the season and end of the season news gets less so if I can tie a story to a touring series I add it to the front page. This year I added the "Local Racing" area in the forum for tracks that run modifieds or have special event modified shows who wish to send me their PR's, just so I can get it out to all here... If I did put every full modified event schedule and report on the front page, I would have to quit my day job and it would actually be too much to keep up with....LOL

I believe the only mod driver who competes at Waterford is Rocco.
Late models: no one
Mini Stock: no one (Danny Field is running Waterford this year)
Limited Late: Walt Hovey on occasions but he is at Waterford this year.

So I think it is doable if they wanted. I think the only conflict would be when a touring MRS series competes at Waterford. TIS could possibly Teddy, maybe Silk but I doubt it.

These tracks all have different rules to there cars so most of your drivers are committed to one track because of the cost of changing their cars over to the tracks rules.

Wouldn't Nascar have to give Thompson the ok to run Saturday? I didn't think Nascar sanctioned tracks that are in close proximity to each other would get the same day of the week to race on. I could be wrong but that might be why Thompson cant or wont race on Saturday nights.

It will never happen. You would be splitting the ever shrinking fan base 3 ways between Thompson, Waterford and Seekonk. All three would take a hit at the box office. If it was a good idea it would have been done years ago.
