Sunoco recently announced that they would be the title sponsor of the World Series of Speedway Racing at the Thompson Speedway. The huge, three-day, racing extravaganza that presents fifteen divisions of race cars, will be held on the weekend of October 15, 16 & 17, 2010.

Sunoco, the official race fuel of NASCAR and the Thompson International Speedway, is the world’s largest producer of premium racing fuels. Sunoco Race Fuels has, over the years, sponsored many events at Thompson including the Sunoco 300 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

Sunoco Racing Fuels are made for off-road use with the exception of the GT 100 fuel which is a 100 octane gasoline that is legal for street use. Owners of high performance cars and muscle cars use the Sunoco GT 100 brand to assure ultimate performance from their vehicles.

Thompson’s World Series of Speedway Racing is a New England tradition. 2010 will mark the 37th consecutive year that this amazing race event has been run at Thompson. The Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing attracts hundreds of race cars and thousands of race fans for three days of almost non-stop action on the race track. Fifteen different divisions of race cars and race trucks jam the Thompson pit area where they participate in qualifying races and feature events.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and the ISMA Super Modifieds share top billing. The Midgets of NEMA, Thompson’s “super 6” NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions, N.E. Trucks, Pro 4 Modifieds, SK Sunoco Light Modifieds and a variety of “outlaw” divisions complete the incredible line up of racers that will compete in the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by XTRA MART.

The Sunoco World Series is, in reality, much more than a race weekend. It is a big social event as well. Hundreds of race fans literally move in for the weekend with campers of all sizes and descriptions. A party atmosphere fills the air in both the camping area and at the Speedway’s Club House. It starts with breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Club House with the social highlight being the dinner and dance Saturday night.

It happens only once a year and only at the Thompson International Speedway. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the track office at 860-923-2280. Fans should visit the track’s web page for complete details and schedules for the entire weekend. www.thompsonspeedway.com (http://www.thompsonspeedway.com).
