View Full Version : D Anthony Venditti Fall Classic Qualifying for the Modified Racing Series
The MRS division are here at Seekonk Speedway for qualifying for tomorrow's 100 lap feature event. There are thirty-five cars here competing for the twenty-four starting positions.
There will be three heat races for qualifying.
Heat Race #1:

MRS cars are lined up and ready to come out on the track for their heat races.
The track Late Models are on the track now for their heat race competition.
When they are done the MRS cars will roll out on the track.
Fastest car in practice for the MRS cars was Les Hinckley with a time of 12.123, next in time was Mike Douglas, Jr 12.140, followed by Ryan Preece 12.193, Todd Annarummo 12.197, Steve Masse 12.211, Rob Williams 12.213.
As the Jack Bateman came out of the track in his #17 car, fluid came out from the back of his car all over the first turn of the track. Bateman has headed into the pits to retify the problem.
So the rest of the cars for the first MRS heat race are now on the track minus Jack Bateman as the track crew spreads speedy dry on the track for the fluid that Bateman's car has dropped.

Cars are doing hot laps to get some heat in the tires. Looks like the first heat race will start without Jack Bateman. The #17 car of Bateman is still beiong worked on in the pits.

Jimmy Dolan has the lead on the race start.
Caution Lap 1 - Bobby Drown spins in turn one. Drown rejoins the field at the back of the pack.

Lap- 6 - Jimmy Dolan, Todd Annarummo, Louie Mechalides, Max Zachem, Jeff Malave, Less Hickley
Lap 7 Caution - Andy Seuss comes into contact with the first turn wall and his car has come to rest against the wall just after turn one. It appears that the #97 car of Ken Vogel came up and hit Seuss sending him into the wall. The #70 car of Seuss is being towed into the pits.
Lap 8 - Joe Doucette spins and goes into the wall right where Andy Seuss was just towed from. After the incident, cars bunch up as they race hard into turn two. Les Hinckley goes over Jeff Malave's right side wheels (I believe). Hinckley was able to drive away but Malave's car will be towed. Also being towed off of the track is the #55 car of Joe Doucette.

So there were six cars each that qualified from the first three heat races. There will be two cars from each consi race. Then there will be two provisional spots.
The MRS Consi races will be the second consi event following the Street Stock Consi race.
When I walked through the pits the crew of the #06 car was working on the right front of the car . The damage looked like a lot of bolt on parts.
It also appears that all of the cars scheduled to come out for the MRS consi races will have their cars ready to compete.
So I will be back with the consi races soon.

Lap 14 Eddy Spiers and Dick Houlihan make a move to pass for second. They are not successful
