JIM STORACE AIMS TO WIPE AWAY REGULAR SEASON BLUES AT SHANGRI-LA II's FALL BRAWL MODIFIED CLASSIC THIS SATURDAY; OCTOBER 16; 50-50 STARTS AT $1,003

Jim Storace, the Rome, N.Y. native now racing out of Kingston, N.H., endured a roller-coaster season at Shangri-La II Motor Speedway in 2010. A hard crash early in the season set him back, but he returned with a feature win and methodically worked his way back into title contention, only to see Jimmy Zacharias get hot just as Storace's fortunes went into reverse again. Zacharias was left to raise he trophy on the final night of the regular season, while Storace contemplated the question, "What if?"

Nothing can bring back the track title, but a victory in the 100-lap, $3.500-to-win Modified feature at the second annual Fall Brawl this Saturday would help to take the chill out of the long New England winter. Storace and teammate John Ramsey were two of the early entries received for the season finale, whose inaugural edition in 2009 attracted 25 Modifieds, the largest non-Race of Champions Series turnout in the track's brief history.

Speaking of the Race of Champions Series, the $1,003 50-50 jackpot from the Shangri-La II RoC event of May 16 was unclaimed that day and held over to the RoC return in August, which was rained out twice and not rescheduled. The $1,003 in cash will be the seed money for this Saturday's 50-50, which will undoubtably be the largest ever at the Concrete Castle.

Pit gates open for the Fall Brawl at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, with practice at 11:30 and the first heat at 1:00 p.m.. Admission is just $15 for adults, with kids 10 and under free. Parking and camping for early arrivals are also free. There will be an open practice session on Friday night, October 15, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. For more information, call 607-330-2622 or visit shangrila-2.com (http://www.shangrila-2.com).
