i like the 2011 schedule but i do see a few flaws. first off the less double point races are a bad idea. then the less enduro races. and the 100ft. drags are a TERRIBLE idea. how will they stop? i know they're trying to bring drag racing back to LI but come on! yet I do like the idea of soccer and mini van demos. can someone please elabarate on this.

My guess is that they will run alone the figure 8 track to give them more room. But even if they do that it's gonna be a hairy situation. The race is going to be all about the holeshot with only 100ft. I'm not fan, can't imagine that too many others will be either once the novelty wears off.

here's a video from thompson in case anybody hasn't seen one yet:

Some tracks don't run ANY double point shows. As a racer i like it better. Double point shows can ruin a whole season.

Just watched the 100 foot drag on youtube. Are half those cars even getting out of first gear? Why not just bring back the spectator drags instead?

100ft drags are a waste. And to have them at 12:00?

Actually they have already run Autocross at Riverhead Raceway. To answer you question, it's a business. They run it the way that makes the most amount of return on their investment. Not the way some guys on a internet bulletin board think it should be run. I hope for the success of every event at Riverhead Raceway, so that way it continues to operate and I can support the events that appeal to me.

In regards to Double Point Races...

Years ago a driver received points every time he or she raced at a NASCAR track and they counted in the National Points. In order to entice top drivers to appear at a particular track, promotors would have a double point races with a larger purse.

According to the sanctioning agreement each track was permited 3 Double Point races per year.

In my opinion, there is no need for Double Point Races any more. Look what it did to Tommy Rogers/ John Fortin and Bill Park/ Chuck Steuer. One was the track Champ and the other took the State Championship or the old CPI.
