River head tour race

Last year it was 5000 to win, an extra 2400 to the winner. And 300 to every driver who qualified. Was planning on doing the same thing this year but had another thought.

Take the 10,500 and only split it to the top four drivers. 7400 extra to win, making it 10,000 to win.

1600 to 2nd place

1000 to 3rd place

500 to 4th place

Any drivers / owners want to give me thoughts?

I like last years way as it helps all the teams especially the back runners who could better use the money. Now if you could figure out how to do it both ways $10,000 to win plus the $300.00 per team that would be a special race!

Not changing it, but was just throwing some ideas around.. Still gonna be 300 to each driver, and another 2100 to the winner of the race , so he takes home 5000. Now, if i can get a hold of another 5000, then we can make it 10,000 to win.

Excellent ! Really appreciated. I'm really hoping others will come on board. I've basically got the 5000 to win, 300 to start thing all taken care of.. My main goal now are the following:

Have enough money to payout tow money to all drivers who don't qualify.

Raise enough money to take the winning payout to the 10,000 level.. And if we fall short, something above 5000.

And doubt I'll be able to do better than what it is right now, but the May race has an extra 2000 ( 1000 to the winner and top tour finisher). But it would be great if we could somehow raise another say 2000 for this and at least give every qualified driver a 100 bonus for starting the race.)

By the way, today is Jan 21 and the Riverhead 100 is 4 months from today, May 21.

Hope a lot of people show up for that race as well. So far, the winner of that race takes home an extra 1000 bucks and the top tour guy will take home take home 1000 also.. Wonder if Silk will come back and try to win it all again??

When I had the first thoughts about helping out the drivers at Riverhead, with the tour race, it was simply because I am a big fan of the modifieds. The people who have donated money, in the past, usually fit the same mold. It's not that we don't have our favorites, but we simply love the modifieds. The money going to the drivers, for the most part , simply comes from the pockets of the people who love watching this sport and these cars. The fans of the modifieds are pretty special people.

Today, I got a letter and a check in the mail from JWfor8x (JW Buckley). It is his 2nd donation and he's simply doing it because he is a fan and has been a fan of the modifieds for some 50 years. As he says, its simply his way of being able to give back to what he loves so much. Thanks for the $100 total donation. I know the drivers are appreciative of what we are trying to do .

For a donation of 300 dollars, you can pick the driver you'd like to see receive your money. Might be able to arrange it so you can give it to him personally.

At present, we have 10,500 to hand out to all qualified drivers (300 to each driver and an extra 2100 to the winner)

We have 360 extra in cash and 1500 in pledges = 1860 which we will give to drivers who don't qualify ( hopefully 300 for each driver) and then, whatever is left over , extra money to the winner.

Our goal is still to get 5000 more which will go to that winning driver making his grand total for the day - $10,000!!!

The $100 pledge from the Stonington Mod Mania actually became a $200 donation. Now trying to convince them to come with $100 more to make it $300- Then Spencer and Russ can pick the driver they want to give it to. I am betting on TC as their driver.
