(February 7, 2011) St. Johns, PA- The 2011 racing schedule for Mountain Speedway was released recently and both fans and drivers have a lot to look forward to for the upcoming season.

With Modifieds, Sport Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, 4 Cyl. FWDs and the INEX Legends as the main divisions this season, race fans should get their monies worth, especially with the price of adult grandstand admission set at only $10 for regular shows.

Scheduled to run from March 2-6, the Laurel Mall Race Car Show will give race fans a warm up of what they’ll see at the speedway this season. Please come out and see the cars and stars from Mountain Speedway and also pick up some of the great merchandise that the vendors at the Laurel Mall in West Hazleton has to offer.

Several special races are planned through out the season, including the fan favorite “cone races” for all divisions. If you’re not familiar with cone racing, a cone is placed in the middle of the race track on the start/finish line following each caution. Drivers will have a choice of restarting on the inside or outside lane prior to the restart, which can in turn help or hurt his or her chances for victory. A cone race was held last season for the Modifieds and even though he didn’t win the race, the big winner of the cone race was Nick Pecko, as he advanced the most positions because of his lane choice on the restarts.

Summer Racefest will headline the summer months with extended lap double points features, plus autograph and camera nights. Big wheel races for the kids are also being planned for intermission on several race nights.

As always, Mountain’s season will beginning with feature races on Sunday before moving to Saturday nights towards the beginning of the summer. The season then changes back to Sunday racing to close out the season. As done in the past, if a Saturday race should be rained out, the event will be held on the following day as long as there isn’t already a race scheduled for that day.

Heading into the 12th season under promotion from Joe Callavini, Mountain Speedway has set aside Saturday, March 26 and Saturday, April 2 as practice dates for all divisions. Opening weekend qualifying for the Sport Modifieds, Late Models and the Factory Stocks is slated for Saturday, April 9. A 6/8-Cylinder enduro is also on the card for the afternoon.

Sunday, April 10 will showcase cone race features for the Sport Modifieds, Late Models, Factory Stocks and INEX Legends.

Opening weekend qualifying for the Modifieds, Street Stocks and the 4 Cyl. FWDs is scheduled for Saturday, April 16. A 4-Cylinder enduro is also on the card for the afternoon.

Sunday, April 17 will showcase cone race features for the Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4 Cyl. FWDs and INEX Legends.
