Plans for the 2011 racing season continue for Spencer Speedway. In early February a tentative schedule was released.
“This is the earliest we’ve come out with a schedule,” stated track promoter John White. “Fans will see we have a number of special nights for the NASCAR Whelen All American Tour.”
The season again kicks off with a Test and Tune session for all divisions on May 13.
Topping the highlighted nights is June 3, when the prices will be rolled back to the 70’s with admission tickets costing just $6 for adults. A regular four star program of Sunoco Modifieds, Super Stocks, Super Sixes and Auto Value Four Cylinder Scorpions is on tap that evening.
“We have finalized the date and laps for the annual RoC Modified race,” added White. “Right now we are looking at June 17, with a 75 lap modified show added to a four star program plus Legends Cars.”
Speaking of the popular Legend cars, they will have six chances at appearing on the half mile flat track oval, where Legend average speeds reach nearly 100 mph on each lap.
“So far there has been a great response to the new Super Stock class. We expect a number of new cars this year,” stated White. The Super Stocks class will pay a minimum of $100 for last place and there is no planned limit to the number of cars starting the feature. Thus all Super Stocks will be given the opportunity to start the feature in 2011.
The headline Sunoco Modifieds start off the 2011 season with a 100-lapper on opening night, May 20. They also have twin 50’s set for August 5 and twin 25’s for July 8. Added to the August 5th program is the Casey's T/Q Midget Racing Series.
“Plans are still in the works to revamp the popular Holland-Spencer Modified Challenge series in 2011,” added White. “This series allowed drivers in northern New York the opportunity for most NASCAR Whelen points. We are also negotiating to add Chemung Speedrome (www.chemungspeedrome.net) to the challenge series in 2011.”
“Fans should also note that there are currently two Fridays we are not running at the Spencer Oval. On July 1, we are running a weekend drag racing event, so the oval cars will be idle that week. We are also closing down on Friday, August 12 to allow our competitors and fans the opportunity to go to the big race at our sister track, Chemung Speedrome.”

Points earned each week at Spencer are counted into the national NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship.
