This past weekend at the Oakdale Mall the 8th Annual Southern Tier Speedworld presented by Mike & Michelle Stolarcyk Cars and Trucks along with Country Town Auto Service took place. Once again this year officials of the Oakdale Mall indicated to show promoters, NEARA Promotions that a new one day attendance record was established on Saturday March 5th.
On Saturday evening the awards for the show were presented at Binghamton Post 80 along with numerous door prizes, great food and drink, racing trivia, and plenty of bench racing taking place.
Starting off the awards, Mike Stolarcyk, Jr. took to the microphone to present the Little Mike’ s Tribute Award that is named in his son ( Mike III ) honor. This year there were two winners and they were IMCA Modified drivers Joe and his cousin KC Cole.
The Anna Heath Memorial Award was presented by her grandsons Dan and Andrew Harpell went to Leon Andrus. Leon is the voice of the Five Mile Point and I – 88 Speedways and the announcer for the Awards Party for Southern Tier Speedworld.
Leon also presents his yearly Are You Kidding Me Award and that went to Roger Batzel.
The Jan Billings Memorial Award was presented to Dan Burman.
The Best in Show Award was a very tough decision with all of the beautiful cars on display and this award ended up being a tie between the dirt Sportsman of Larry Hillis and the dirt Modified of Chad Cook.
The Best Display Award went to the dirt Street Stock of Ryan Stone.
On the asphalt side the following awards were presented to; Garrett Zacharias; Best Microd, Tony Hanbury; Best Small Size, and Rusty Smith; Best Full Size.
On the dirt side the following awards were presented to; Dustin Tonkin; Best Microd, Jake Maynard; Best Small Size, Pat Votra; Best Full Size.
