St. Johns, Pa- Following the death of Mike Moyer Jr., the 2009 Mountain Speedway Factory Stock champion, the Moyer family and Mountain Speedway will be hosting the Mike Moyer Jr. Factory Stock Memorial event on Sunday, May 1st at the Speedway.

As a second-generation driver, Moyer began his racing career in mid 2006, and in only his fourth start, he would cross the stripe in the runner up spot and soon would be awarded his 1st win, following post race tech. He finished out the season with two feature wins after a limited schedule, which gave him momentum heading into his first full season of competition.

His next season brought added success to the team and Moyer earned a 4th place points finish in the Factory Stock division and scored two victories along the way. He followed up in 2008 with three wins, including the season ending “King of the Mountain” event, which earned him another 4th place finish in the points standings.

However, 2009 would prove to be the season of all seasons for Moyer. He drove to the opening day victory and then won five more times, including the prestigious “Duct Tape 50” Ed Makarewicz Memorial. His sixth and final victory of the season came on August 15, 2009, which helped secure him the 2009 Factory Stock championship.

The 29-year old sits tied for fourth on the all-time Factory Stock win list at Mountain Speedway with 13 career victories in just a few seasons of competition.

The memorial Factory Stock event will be held less than two weeks after what would have been Mike Jr’s 30th birthday. His father, Mike Moyer, Sr. is planning to pace the field in his son’s championship winning Factory Stock.

Courtesy of Scott Adams and Himmer Graphics, Mike Moyer, Jr. Memorial decals will be available for purchase and all proceeds will go to Moyer’s son’s education fund.

More information will follow in the near future, including a lap sponsorship list, which will go to the leader of each lap.
