Stock car racing fans will have their first opportunity this year to see racecars in action on Wall Stadium Speedway’s paved oval this Saturday (April 2) as track operator Cliff Krause hosts the first of two practice sessions. Fans will be welcome into the grandstands free of charge for the four-hour practice session, which starts at 11:00 a.m.

“We have been working hard for the past several months in preparation for this,” Krause, who took over operations at the famous oval speedway in January, said. “Everyone who has been working so hard is looking forward to Saturday’s practice session.

“It should be a great chance for new fans to come to the track and see what local racing is all about, while fans can also see all the new cars for the new season.”

While grandstand seating is free of charge, Saturday’s practice session is a paid affair for competitors. Pit area gates will open at 9:00 a.m. so that race teams will have plenty of time to have their racecars inspected. On track practice will then begin at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until 3:00 p.m. Race teams are also reminded that tires will be available at the track starting with Saturday’s practice session.

A second practice session will then be hosted at the speedway on April 9.

Once testing is completed, all attention will turn towards Saturday, April 16 and the official 2011 Season Opener. That season opening program will feature the Wall Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock, Legend Cars and Factory Stock divisions. An “On Track Party,” where fans will be welcome from the grandstands onto the track to check out all of the racecars up close, will be a part of the season opening festivities.

Weekly Saturday evening stock car racing events will then run until the end of September, with the exception of June 18 when the annual “Formula D Drift Championship” will be presented.

The fifth mile inner oval at Wall Stadium will also be busy this weekend as a practice session for the “Small Car Series” is set for Sunday (April 3). Pit area gates will open at 9:30 a.m. with inspections available for all vehicles. Practice will then begin at 11:00 A.M. and will continue until everyone has had plenty of opportunity to test and tune his or her vehicles.

Once the April 3 practice session is complete, the “Sunday Small Car Series” will kick off for the 2011 campaign on Sunday afternoon, April 10. The series will then continue on most Sunday afternoons through the fall.

Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
